The Faculty of Civil Engineering is the oldest faculty of the Brno University of Technology, with an enrolment of over 6,500 students and 22 specialized institutes; the faculty is the largest faculty of the university.
The Faculty of Civil Engineering is housed in buildings located throughout the city of Brno. The main building of the faculty is located in 95 Veveří Street; other buildings are in 17 Žižkova Street and 1 Rybkova Street, Brno.
According to the newest edition of QS World University Rankings (2012), Brno University of Technology reached position 151-200 in Civil Engineering category.
The Faculty of Civil Engineering and its individual members are actively engaged in programmes of research with colleagues, educational institutions and companies both in the Czech Republic and abroad. In recent years a large number of collaborative efforts have been initiated with universities in various countries all over the world.
Many faculty members are actively involved in several European research projects sponsored through, for example, Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) and other similar programmes. Departments and individual faculty members also do research on projects funded by the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic.
