M.Eng in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering

Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering（NAOE）at College of Shipbuilding Engineering (CSE) of Harbin Engineering University has more than 50 years history. Its predecessor is a key department, the Navy Engineering Department, of Harbin Military Engineering Institute, set up in 1953. MEng Communication and Information System

This Communication and Information System discipline is a site conferring Master and Doctor degree.There are 20 professors and 9 associate professors, 5 doctor tutors and 24 master tutors. The discipline was granted the right of conferring M.Eng in 1989 and D.Eng in 1996. This discipline has taken the lead in super-wide band information system, ranked first-class in modern communication and information system in north-east China. Since its first enrollment, many innovative and excellent intellects are cultivated for economy construction and national defence modernization. Now there are more than 300 MEng students in studying. More than 200 papers are published and over 50 of them were indexed by SCI、EI and ISTP; 55 projects of national and ministry level and 26 projects of industry sectors are under taken. 2 projects are conferred second class award of Heilongjiang province technology progress, 1 project is conferred third class award. Labs for teaching and researching are: super-wide information system lab, communication system lab center, virtual lab, which are cost 800,000yuan RMB. MEng Degree in Electromagnetic Field and Microwave Technology

This Electromagnetic Field and Microwave Technology discipline is Master degree conferring site.There are 7 professors and 1 associate professors, 6 doctor tutors and 2 master tutors. The discipline belongs to Electrical Science and Technology Discipline, it is the base of remote communication, high frequency communication and electromagnetism compatible. Many new technologies are also on the basis of electromagnetic field and microwave technology, such as: Radar, mobile communication, microwave remote sensing, electrical antagonize, intellect antenna, ray and microwave interaction.

This discipline has applied widely in spaceflight, national defence and economy. But with the rapid development of digital communication technology and electrical computer, many students choose popular majors such as communication and computer, which results few intellects in this field. Master site of electromagnetic field and microwave technology has been founded again since the year 2003, further researching in electromagnetic and microwave technology. In order to cultivate high level theory researchers and engineers, the discipline is tracing the trend of the international development, improving the level of applications in electromagnetic field and microwave technology. MEng Degree in Optical Engineering

This Optical Engineering discipline is Master degree conferring site, there are 3 professors, 2 doctor tutors and 1 master tutors. Though the discipline was granted the right of conferring M.E until the year 1996, the fiber technology academy was founded in 1985, it became the few teaching and researching site of Chinese universities (It is the single site that research fiber in north-east China). Much technology has stored in science and research field. In recent years, fiber transmission theory, fiber apparatus and fiber sensors are in developing. This Signal and Information Processing discipline is MEng and Ph.D degree conferring site. There are 16 professors and 3 associate professors, 4 doctor tutors and 15 master tutors. The discipline was granted the right of conferring M.E in 1986 and Ph.E in the year 2000. During “The tenth five year plan”, we have deeply developed the research of non-linear information signal processing and visual image recognition, especially in morphology filter and stack filter technology. Master students are researching in these fields and accumulate many experience in technology. Many awards of teaching and researching are conferred. In recent years, over 50 papers are published in journals and conferences and over 30 papers of them were indexed by SCI、EI and ISTP. More than 30 projects of national and ministry level and 18 projects of industry sectors are under taken. 1 projects are conferred second class award of Hei longjiang province technology progress, 1 projects is conferred third class award. Biomedical engineering is a multidisciplinary subject by the merger of natural science, engineering and medicine. The structure, function, and various life phenomena of people’s body are studied in different levels based on the principle and method of nature science and modern engineering technology. The main applications include the research on materials, productions, instruments and systems for prevention, diagnosis, nursing, treatment, health care, health procreation, rehabilitation from diseases, et al.

The aim of this specialty is training the graduate students to be the high-level professional talents. Master in Marine Engine Engineering

Marine Engine Engineering is a synthetically discipline of advanced science and technology, centralized on thermal, mechanical, electrical and automation engineering to train excellent students who deal with design, maintenance, management and research on ship power plants. This discipline was based on the group of warship internal combustion engine (1953) of Harbin Military Institute - HMI, marine gas turbine (1958 HMI) and so on.

Authorized discipline for Master Degree was approved by the Office of Academic Degree of Chinese Government in 1989. There are 19 teachers (15 Professors, 2 Associate Professors and  2 lectures, including 12 PhD holders) who conduct research on Marine Engineering for a long time. Four special research areas have dominant position in China, focusing on the performance and system analysis for ship power plant totality, vibration and noise control for ship power plants, automatic and measurement for ship power plants and special power plants. In the tenth five year plan of developing, this discipline is the stress construction discipline of our University, pursuing research on the internal combustion engine, gas turbine engine and combined power plants. The master students of Marine Engine take part in these researches. There are five important laboratories: marine internal combustion engine lab, marine power plant vibration & noise control lab, combined power plant lab, steam power plant lab, and special power plant lab.
