Message From Vancouver Campus Dean Martin Gerson, Ph.D.

Welcome, and thank you for considering NYIT's Vancouver campus as the gateway to your future. NYIT has a proud history of achievement, as evidenced by its graduates, its academic programs, and its campuses around the world.

Founded in 1955 as a private not-for-profit university in the State of New York, U.S.A., NYIT has campuses in Manhattan, Long Island, the Middle East, China, and here in Vancouver, Canada. Following its long-term strategic plan for a global university, NYIT is designed to allow students to move among campuses with complete internal transferability of credits and graduate with the same NYIT degree from any campus. Already, students can study for their general M.B.A. in Vancouver and complete a concentration in New York, as several have already done.

NYIT-Vancouver is part of this grand global vision. We have received approval from the Ministry of Advanced Education of British Columbia to offer two concentrations in our well established M.B.A., one in Finance and one in Tourism, and we are very excited about the approval we have also received to offer NYIT's cutting-edge Master of Science in Information, Network, and Computer Security here in Vancouver. The M.B.A. concentrations and the M.S.-INCS degrees will be first offered in Vancouver in early 2014, and we have plans to add more post-graduate programs to our offerings in the near future. Each program at the Vancouver campus is based on the same courses as the similarly named program at the New York campuses, so the Vancouver campus is, in essence, just like the New York campuses - except a few thousand kilometers away.

On the other hand, NYIT-Vancouver is an important and valued member of Vancouver's higher education community. We have recently formed partnerships with two major local public institutions, Langara College and the British Columbia Institute of Technology - partnerships that will allow graduates of BCIT's and Langara's programs to move smoothly into programs at NYIT-Vancouver, and that will also allow for a sharing of facilities and other resources, exchanges of faculty, and student exchanges. By joining us at NYIT Vancouver, you will be part of a campus with a presence in both Atlantic and Pacific gateway cities: New York, one of the planet's greatest cities, combined with Vancouver, one of the world's most beautiful, livable cities. I am looking forward to welcoming you to NYIT in Vancouver.

M.S.-INCS is a cutting-edge program designed to prepare students for leadership positions in addressing one of the major ongoing issues faced by almost every modern organization. The M.S.-INCS will be ideally suited for graduates of baccalaureate programs in computer science, engineering, operations research, mathematics, and related areas. The program is a two-year program (although particularly strong, well-prepared and hard-working students could complete the requirements more quickly).
