Introduction

The Faculty of Science was established in 1987 with four constituent disciplines - Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. In 2007, the faculty has been reorganized, resulting in the formation of 6 major disciplines or study areas; Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, Applied Physics, Computer Science, and Geology and Petroleum Geology, under mathematics there are three strands: Applied Mathematics, Fundamental Mathematics, and Statistics, Operations Research and Financial Mathematics.

The faculty offers undergraduate and postgarduate programmes in these fields. At the undergarduate level, the faculty offers BSc Generation NEXT degree. The faculty also offers Master by coursework, Master by research and PhD in the 6 major areas and in the areas of energy and materials. Applicants who are interested in postgraduate programmes by research are encouraged to contact individual faculty. The in-take for postgraduate programmes are normally scheduled twice per year. Recognising the need both within Brunei and internationally, the programme exists to meet the demand for professionals trained at a high level in the discipline of Energy Studies.
