Educational Establishment "Belarusian Trade and Economics University of Consumer Cooperatives" is a higher education institution of Belcoopsoyuz with the status equated to State University, and operates in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, the Code on Education of the Republic of Belarus and other legislative acts of the Republic of Belarus, Decrees of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus, the University Statute, the Board Regulations of Belcoopsoyuz and other regulatory documents.
Formation of Educational Establishment "Belarusian Trade and Economics University of Consumer Cooperatives" had its beginning in 1964 with the opening in Gomel of the Consultative unit of Moscow Cooperative Institute of Central Union of Consumer Cooperatives of the USSR (Centrosoyuz).
The University structure includes university administration, three faculties of full-time education (Faculty of Accounting and Finance, Faculty of Economics and Management, Faculty of Commerce), two faculties of correspondence education (Faculty of Economics and Accounting, Faculty of Commerce and Management), Faculty of Business Education, Institute of Qualification Improvement and Personnel Retraining, including Special Faculty and Faculty of Qualification Improvement, 23 departments, structural subdivisions.
The structure of the Research Center includes the Post Graduate Course department and Scientific Research Sector.
University trains specialists in 11 specialties and 22 specializations of economics. The university is simultaneously training about 9,000 students (30% of students are full-time education students, and the rest are correspondence education students).
The University has approximately 1,160 staff members, 425 of them are higher education teaching personnel.
Nowadays University actively works on international programmes with educational establishment in Spain, Sweden, Great Britain, Slovenia, and Bulgaria with the aim of bringing up educational level to European standards. We communicate with all higher educational institutions of consumer cooperatives in Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Azerbaijan. University trains foreign students from far-abroad and near-abroad countries.
