About The Recording Connection A division of the Recording, Radio, Film and Culinary Connection (RRFC), the Recording Connection is an industry-recognized trade school geared around providing you with practical, one-on-one training for a career as an audio engineer or music producer. Our overarching goal is not simply to equip you with the skills you need, but also to help you break into the industry by putting you in a position to gain on-the-job experience while making… [+] important industry connections. Through our revolutionary mentor-apprentice (extern) learning approach, we pair each of our students with an actual music producer or audio engineer who provides one-on-one training in a real recording studio. Our program combines a structured-yet-flexible curriculum with a large amount of hands-on training in the studio, which enables our students not only to learn the rudiments of producing, recording and mixing, but the business aspects of running a studio, as well as the inner workings of the industry itself. Since our inception in 1989, the Recording Connection has expanded its reach into all 50 states, as well as into Canada, Australia and the U.K., ultimately placing more than 11,000 students as apprentices (externs) in real recording studios across three continents. Our mentoring staff consists of actual producers and engineers in world-class studios, many of whom regularly work with Grammy-winning, Platinum-selling artists. We carefully screen our mentors to ensure they are giving our students the best education possible, as well as the best opportunities to connect with the industry in the process. The Recording Connection’s on-the-job audio training program is an excellent choice for anyone with a passion to launch a career as an audio engineer, music producer, live sound engineer, music recording artist, live DJ, composer or other industry professional. Our unique approach puts you in the right place at the right time with the right people to help you break into the industry. Possible Career Paths Within our basic audio engineering and music production course, we are able to pair students with mentors that specialize in their chosen genre or field of interest. We currently offer customized training for the following career paths: Electronic music production Hip-hop music production/beat making Live sound engineering Post production audio Audio for film, TV and video games Touring DJ Music business (artist management, label executive, etc.) Top ten reasons to consider the Recording Connection: 1. Learn near where you live. ( 250 cities to choose from) With over 250 locations across the country, we can train you in a real recording studio within driving distance of where you live. No need to relocate, quit your job or say goodbye to your existing connections. 2. Low tuition With skyrocketing education costs, it is not uncommon for students to rack up tens of thousands of dollars in debt before they graduate. For aspiring industry professionals, this can end a career before it even begins. We keep our tuition affordable ($9400, all supplies included, no fees) so you can focus on your career, not on how you’re going to pay your bills. 3. Prepare for a variety of music industry careers Whether you want to produce, compose, engineer, DJ or perform; whether you’re into hip hop, electronic music, country, pop, rock or jazz; we tailor your curriculum to your needs, and we pair you with a mentor who can help you achieve your specific career goals. 4. Real job placement assistance Thanks to our unique approach, many of our students get hired by their mentors or by connections made through their mentors. However, at the Recording Connection, we leave nothing to chance. For each of our students, we provide additional support, training and job placement assistance for up to a year after graduation. 5. Learn as an apprentice (extern), not a classroom student or an intern As a Recording Connection student, you are not one student among dozens competing for a teacher’s attention in a classroom. Nor are you simply an intern who takes out the trash (although chores are a natural part of studio life). You are an apprentice (extern) who has been assigned to a real producer/engineer for personalized on-the-job training. You aren’t just learning concepts from a textbook: you’re learning the tricks of the trade from a real pro. 6. Work on your own music career One of the things our students love best about the Recording Connection is that our course enables them to apply the things they’re learning to creating their own music. While many of our students simply want to engineer and produce for others, many others want to produce their own music. Our course enables you to up your own game. You’ll learn to record, mix and produce your own music, and even better, get it heard by actual music industry professionals who can help you get it out there. 7. Learn industry standard gear and software Since you’re learning in a real recording studio, you’ll naturally be learning to use the gear and software that the pros use, from vintage amps to virtual plugins, from analog to digital. You’ll learn the industry standard Pro Tools, as well as other programs like Logic, Reason and Ableton. And you’ll get to practice on the gear and software without competing with other students for practice time. 9. One-on-one mentoring In a Recording Connection class, there is only one student: you. No classes with dozens of other students. All the training occurs one-on-one in the studio, just you and your mentor. No glossing over things you don’t understand. Learn at your own pace. Ask whatever questions you like. This personalized attention is what helps people like you become great producers and engineers. And that’s what we’re after. 10. World-Class mentors with real album credits In other schools, teachers often have their degrees and diplomas hanging on the wall. In the real music industry, success is measured in other ways. We partner with top producers and engineers across the country to mentor our students—people who work with superstar talent such as Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, U2, Aerosmith, Kendrick Lamar and many, many others. You probably won’t find college degrees hanging on the walls of your mentor’s studio, but you might just see a few Gold and Platinum Records, and maybe even a Grammy or two.

In the Asian Century in which we’re living, the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific is one of the world's leading centres for teaching and research on the region – a position we’ve been working on since the century before. The College has its roots in the University’s Research School of Pacific Studies and the School of Oriental Languages, founded in 1946 and 1952 respectively. The Research School was a founding institution of ANU, established to drive Australia’s engagemen… [+] t and understanding of its neighbourhood, as well as establish the University as a global centre of excellence in research, teaching and influence on Asia and the Pacific. The School of Oriental Languages was established to train diplomats and public servants in Chinese, and later Japanese, Bahasa Indonesia and Malay. Ten years later, the School became the ground-breaking Faculty of Asian Studies, the first and only faculty at an Australian university dedicated to a regional specialisation. By 1968 Asian and Pacific studies at ANU were booming; enrolments in Indonesian had overtaken those in French, and the University Library had built up one of the best Asian collections in the world. Global acclaim was secured for the Faculty in 1971, when it hosted the International Congress of Orientalists, attended by 1,200 international experts. Teaching expertise and academic excellence have been cornerstones of Asian and Pacific studies at ANU since these early days. The University is proud to include among its former teaching staff Sir John Crawford, a pioneer in the building of an Asia Pacific economic and policy community; AL Basham, author of what remains today the most widely-used introduction to Indian civilisation; Stephen Wurm, the world’s foremost expert on the languages of New Guinea; and Hedley Bull, a key scholar on international relations. From these visionaries and strong foundations, the College has grown today to host the largest assembly of regional experts in the English-speaking world. We have the widest range of courses on Asia and the Pacific in Australia, and offer the largest number of Asian and Pacific language programs. Reaching out to the region and the world, the College is the centre for Australia’s and intellectual engagement with the societies, cultures, economies and worlds of thought of Asia and the Pacific. Among the University’s academic colleges, the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific remains unique for its regional focus. But, unlike the great majority of other geographically-dedicated faculties around the world, the College has preserved a commitment to disciplinary strength, particularly in political science, economics, history, anthropology, law, archaeology and linguistics, with an enviable international standing across all these disciplines. Building on our impressive history, today our teaching staff still includes preeminent academics recognised internationally as leaders in their field – including Professor Hugh White, Australia’s leading analyst on strategy and intelligence; Professor Hilary Charlesworth, world-renowned expert on international law and human rights; and Professor Nicholas Evans, a leading linguistics expert who is working tirelessly save endangered languages across the globe. With the College’s focus on Asia and the Pacific more relevant now than ever before, ANU is indisputably the best place to prepare the next generation of regional specialists for the challenges of this century, and Australia’s place in it.
Our Vision La Trobe will be a University known for its excellence and innovation in relation to the big issues of our time, and for its enthusiasm to make a difference. La Trobe will be one of the top three Universities in Victoria, one of the top dozen nationally and one of the top 300 internationally. Our Values In 2012, as part of the development of the University's five year strategic plan 'Future Ready' we articulated a set of values. We developed these values… [+] through a consultative process involving many La Trobe staff. The five values guide everything we do. At La Trobe University we: Take a world view Pursue ideas and excellence with energy Treat people with respect and work together Are open, friendly and honest Hold ourselves accountable for making great things happen Values are expressed through behaviours and during the first part of 2013 we will explore how La Trobe staff and students can translate our values into behaviours that generate benefits for the communities we interact with and serve. Our past La Trobe was the third university created for Victoria, and was established to be complementary to, but different from, the other two. Its founders aspired to create a university that would: Provide an accessible alternative to the two pre-existing universities Bring university education to the northern suburbs of Melbourne Excel in a number of selected disciplines Shaped by the era of our birth, La Trobe developed a distinctive ethos which joined ‘social engagement’ to the pursuit of academic excellence. Reflecting our desire to engage with the outside world, our public intellectuals became and remain among the most engaged in the nation, and our alumni are some of the most influential their generations have produced. In the 1980s and ‘90s we redefined the University through new relationships, especially in country Victoria. We are now a multi-campus university and the largest provider of higher education to Victoria’s regions. Moreover we have the largest regional enrolment of the mainland Australian universities in the Academic Ranking of World Universities ‘Top 500’. La Trobe University now has some of the world’s best researchers in the sciences and humanities contributing to the achievement of this ranking. La Trobe is a globally recognised university, transforming the lives of its students, many being the first in their family to attend university, and playing an important role in its local communities. These are achievements of which we can be justly proud. Our future Times have changed, and the manner in which we must play our part in the world, as well as the complexity and cost of academic research, have changed with them. For instance, Melbourne’s North is being transformed by population expansion and rising demand for higher education. All the regions we serve face new challenges as a result of structural changes in national and global economies along with environmental and social challenges. Students have greater choice than ever before, and expect a high quality educational experience, together with engaging, relevant and flexible curriculum. The issues facing our society, and to which our courses and research must respond, include climate change, the ageing of our population, the rise of Asia’s relevance and influence, the revolution in the medical sciences, and the resilience of societies in the face of rapid change. Other challenges will arise during the lifespan of this Plan, and La Trobe will be agile in responding to them. Our history equips us with the appropriate formula for success in such an environment. Our geography, ethos and academic strengths can be the starting points for an even livelier and stronger La Trobe that retains its relevance and remains true to its ideals. International activities La Trobe is dedicated to serving the global community through internationalisation, innovative teaching and learning methods, and research. This includes encouraging our students and staff to gain international experience, development of an internationalised curriculum and research programs, and the diversification of our student community. The University's strong international focus is manifested and continually enhanced in several key areas of the University: Teaching an internationally relevant curriculum, which prepares students to be global citizens, entrepreneurs, employers and employees a range of courses and pathways that meet the requirements of the diverse markets in which we operate, and which are delivered onshore in Victoria and Sydney, or offshore with high quality transnational teaching partners high quality academic relationships strong and productive partnerships with pathway providers onshore and offshore Research strong international research partnerships and internationally focused research Community engagement opportunities and support for international students to engage successfully in their University life and in their communities exceptionally strong engagement with employers, industry and with alumni Student mobility opportunities for our students to participate in exchange academic programs overseas and active partnerships with over 150 institutions in more than 40 countries.

Situated at picturesque Mount Cotton, just a short drive from Brisbane and the Gold Coast, Sirromet’s state of the art facilities offer food and wine lovers the ultimate winery experience - combining production, cellar door and 5-star restaurant, alive with unique architecture and breathtaking scenery. Terry mentioned that he had tried a great wine from Queensland’s Granite Belt to which his Victorian friends laughed and said “There’s no such thing as a great wine from Queensland.” This was the spark that Terry needed to create his vision for Sirromet. Terry chose to land in the Granite Belt Region renowned for its unique combination of rich soil, high altitude and cool climate, providing the perfect location for growing grapes. Utilising both traditional methods and new technology, Sirromet produces exquisite quality wines recognised on the world stage.
