Computing with e-business Technology
Postgraduate Certificate/Postgraduate Diploma/MSc
This course focuses on developing the technical skills required to build effective systems for the worldwide web.
You will develop your ability to create high quality, effective web sites. You also explore security and ethics, evaluating competing solutions. You can expect to develop expertise in web development, and applications relying on underlying network and database systems.
You can acquire both the core skills in computing and develop contemporary specialist skills through our computing pathways. You need not have a computing background to succeed, but you must be motivated. You’ll need to be competent in using information technology, with an aptitude for developing high-level technical skills. With a blend of theory, tools, methods and management techniques, you learn all that’s necessary to create and successfully deploy software products.
You design, build, test and evaluate applications. Your work rests on an understanding of professional project management, ethics and quality issues. This provides you with a complete and well-balanced perspective, preparing you for an exciting career in the industry.
You are encouraged to build on your previous background, perhaps using it as the base for particular projects or assignments. You benefit by drawing on your own experiences and those of the teaching staff, external contacts and fellow students. This will give you a solid grounding to follow in the footsteps of previous students who have gained promotion, created their own businesses or progressed to research degrees.
You can study for the postgraduate certificate, postgraduate diploma or the masters degree depending on your inclination or qualifications. It's possible to change your award once you have started your programme or study.
If you want to take one or more modules as a 'taster' of postgraduate study, you should apply as an associate student, and if you already have a relevant qualification or equivalent, you may be able to claim some credit for your previous learning.
