Energy costs have become a critical issue since the worldwide consumption is increasing and production of greenhouse gases is limited. This drives to the situation where people who are educated to deal with minimizing energy usage to be in demand. These people have an appropriate knowledge to optimize the conversion and production of energy. The new joint programme of Materials and Processes of Sustainable Energetics offers a new and unique approach to energy issues. Programme does not teach how to produce more energy but how to use energy more efficiently.

Materials science and technology is traditionally strongly based on chemical science and education. In line with the development of new high tech materials, technologies and processes, their properties are studied at the Faculty. As a result of successful research in the field of new electronic materials, European and Estonian Centre of Excellence was established at the Faculty for the study of materials for solar energy. Extensive cooperation with Tartu University, European universities and industry are conducted as well, which gives students excellent possibilities for practicing and working abroad....

The MEd programme in Mathematics and Education is operated by the area of educational studies in collaboration with the area of mathematics studies. The programme's aim is to graduate teachers with strong professional knowledge and educational expertise in their specialties who have the ability to become outstanding teachers and leaders in their fields.

The MEd degree builds mainly on students' professional knowledge of mathematics, as a large part of the studies centers on that discipline. In addition, the pedagogy part of the programme aims to educate prospective teachers about working with children and adolescents who are at risk of developing disorders in learning, behaviour, or well-being....

The programme MSc in Energy & Environmental Management is designed to give a deeper understanding of the inter-relationships between the environment and topics such as energy technology, environmental law, business strategies, policy and other areas. It focuses on environmental auditing, assessment and management procedures, as required by industrial and commercial bodies. Thus the programme emphasises the application of environmental knowledge, but pressures on the wider global environment are also studied. Furthermore, in order that students can better understand these applications, the basic principles of the various disciplines are also covered. The Master of Science program in Computing, Statistics and Mathematics at Kean University is designed to prepare students to engage in professional activities in mathematics, statistics and computing in business, government, industry and higher education. Environmental management has become a necessity for many organisations as they respond to commercial, regulatory and consumer pressures. The international standard for environmental management systems, ISO 14001, is increasingly being implemented by industry and governmental organisations to satisfy these pressures and provides a structured basis for achieving continual environmental improvement, for maintaining regulatory compliance and for the prevention of pollution. In many cases it can lead to significant cost savings. A significant part of the scheme will be spent working on a major research project, based either at the University or in industry.

Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling (TCCM) play a key role in the development of modern chemistry, biochemistry, chemical biology, physics and material science. This has motivated six Universities leaders in the key disciplines of the field to set a consortium and offer a joint TCCM Master course. The creation of this joint Master has two main objectives:    * establish a European standard for Master training;    * promote the international mobility of Master studentsin the TCCM field. This idea has successfully attracted other 41 European higher education Institutions which have decided to join the TCCM Master consortium and has convinced the European Chemistry Thematic Network (ECTN) to support the initiative.The TCCM Master is meant to prepare experts in using and developing molecular sciences computational techniques to either work with innovative pharmaceutical, petrochemical and new-materials industries or to follow future doctoral studies in Chemistry, Physics, Life or Material Sciences. It is articulated in 120 ECTS credits and can be accessed by students having a Bachelor in Chemistry, in Physics or in Material Science. Other scientific bachelors can also be accepted (provided that the student integrates his/her preparation as recommended by the local Tutor).In the first year (M1), 12 ECTS credits are devoted to a levelling course, 3 to the improvement of the student's command of a European language and 30 to compulsory courses in Mathematics, Statistical Mechanics, Molecular Quantum Mechanics, Programming and Numerical Methods; Group Theory; Reaction Dynamics and Spectroscopy delivered locally in the official language chosen by the participating Institution. The remaining 15 ECTS credits will be devoted to knowledge acquisition in Advanced Chemical Physics, Thermodynamics, Spectroscopy, Chemical Dynamics, Solid State Chemistry or other subjects chosen freely after advice by the student's supervisor.The second year (M2), has a marked international character, and includes teaching and research activities. 24 credits will be devoted to the acquisition of a solid background in advanced Theoretical chemistry and Computational Modelling subjects (Advanced Electronic Structure Theory; Molecular and Chemical Dynamics; Advanced Computational Techniques; Computer Modelling and Simulation; Condensed Matter Theory) and related applications in Nano Science and Technology, Models of Biological systems; Materials by design; Reactivity and Catalysis; Excited State; Atmosphere and Space processes. For this purpose a mandatory four-weeks Intensive course will be organized. Lectures of the Intensive course will be delivered by the best specialists of the consortium and experts taken from third countries. The remaining 36 credits will be devoted to research activity. Compulsorily, part of this research activity (the equivalent to 18 ECTS credits) will be carried out in a member Institution of the consortium in a different country.The defence of the Master Thesis at the home Institution will conclude M2 and will entitle the student to bear a Master degree in Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling delivered by his/her home Institution jointly with the other members of the Consortium....
