How can environmental problems be assessed? How do companies and organisations work to prevent and solve environmental problems? How is control exercised over companies and individuals by public authorities?
From a fundamentally practical standpoint, in that change starts in the reality of today, our students are challenged to develop professional skills, knowledge and networks in close collaboration with the surrounding society.
The Masters programme in Environmental Management and Policy aims to prepare students for a career in or with industry and public authorities. Subjects such as organisation and governance of companies, technical systems in companies and in society, environmental economics, environmental law, environmental policy and sustainable consumption are integrated. The programme is based on the focus on industry/organisations and policy/public authorities.
- Basic Block, 30 credits, Oct 2016 - June 2017. Courses are mainly web-based, and studies can be combined with for example internships or part time work. (For specific student groups there are two different on-site coordinated tracks that may be offered. These are mainly intended for students on certain scholarship or loan schemes. Please contact us for information.)
- Advanced Block, 30 credits, August – December 2016, requires full-time on campus presence in Lund. From this semester, there is a departure from the traditional division of courses by subject and the courses instead focus on problem areas.
- Applied Block, 30 credits, August 2016 - May 2017 requires full-time on campus presence in Lund. The second half of the programme focuses on application of knowledge, involving projects with external organisations and individual research.
- Master Thesis Block, 30 credits, June 2017-October 2017. The thesis project period can be spent in Lund or elsewhere. Graduation week with theses defenses takes place on campus in late September.
The unique disposition of the four blocks allows for a great deal of individual customisation. On campus presence is required for a minimum of 9 months, depending on different conditions and personal preferences.
The programme opens the door to a wide range of careers in all spheres essential for real advancement of the environmental agenda. Our alumni work in industry, consultancy, government agencies, EU bodies, international organisations, environmental organsiations and academia.
