Research is an integral part of the M.Arch course of study, from first-year courses in design, theory, history, media, and technology, to the final semester’s directed research project. The program is accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) and currently ranked #8 in the country by Design Intelligence. Our faculty members are recognized for their level of commitment to each student’s progress as well as their professional achievements. This program, required by many denominations for ordination, is offered at the New Brunswick campus through day and evening classes and at the St. John’s site through evening classes. Education for ministry is not a matter of simply accumulating certain knowledge and skills. It is the beginning of a process of personal transformation whereby the student appropriates the knowledge and skills pertinent to ministry in a way that shapes the student’s self-understanding and life within the church and the world. Thus, both the integration of the diverse fields of knowledge and skill, and the integration of these fields with the actual experience and practice of ministry, are essential to a theological education. The course of study for the M.Div. falls into three major categories. The first consists of the core academic courses, grouped into three fields: Biblical Studies; Historical, Theological and Ethical Studies; Ministry Studies. The second consists of the experience and practice of varieties of ministry. This is found principally in a student’s Field Education placements, but also in the various aspects of life in the seminary community. Those courses which seek to integrate the various academic fields, and academic learning with practical experience, form the final category. The Ministeriums and required integrative courses constitute this category. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS In addition to the admissions procedures mentioned, applicants who seek to enter the US to pursue a degree program at NBTS must: Submit transcripts of undergraduate degree programs*, letters of recommendation, and a statement of purpose written in English; Demonstrate their proficiency in English; Apply to the US Government for an F-1 non-immigrant student entry visa. *The Admissions Committee recommends that all transcripts that originate from an institution outside the United States or Canada be sent to a professional transcript service for a course-by-course evaluation. ENGLISH PROFICIENCY In order to insure success in our degree programs, the Seminary requires that students for whom English is a second language must have their English skills evaluated prior to full matriculation in its Masters or Doctor of Ministry programs. Touro’s LL.M. program for foreign law graduates is the third oldest such program in the New York City metropolitan area, after those of Columbia and New York University. It is a 27-credit program designed to provide grounding in United States jurisprudence, law, and procedure. The program is intended to serve the needs of two distinct groups: foreign-qualified lawyers living in the U.S. who hope to resume here the legal careers they began abroad. attorneys coming from abroad who seek familiarity with U.S. law and legal institutions, so they may use that knowledge in their foreign legal careers. The program, which emphasizes the development of analytical skills, was the first in the country to offer a research and writing course designed exclusively for foreign lawyers as well as a course devoted specifically to the U.S. legal system. Distinctive features of the program include: Optional survey courses on basic U.S. legal subjects: Constitutional Law, Property, Contracts, Civil Procedure and Torts. In these courses, attention is devoted to major cases, but most readings are commentaries on the law. Instead of the traditional J.D. format, in which students read cases and discuss them in class, the survey courses are taught in lecture format. These subjects are tested on the New York bar exam. Survey courses can be valuable for students who want a quick familiarity with a particular area of U.S. law. The opportunity to “audit” one course per semester. Auditing allows a student to attend a course at no cost and to even take the final exam, but the course does not count toward the credits needed for graduation. Auditing one course per semester over three semesters can increase learning opportunities by about 30%, at no additional cost. Program Overview The Master of Science in Computer Information Systems is a Professional Science Master’s (PSM) degree program that presents students with an applied education in advanced topics associated with computer science, computer engineering, and information systems. The program is designed for students with some experience in computer technology and programming, who wish to advance their technical skills and knowledge, and who also wish to improve their communication and business skills. All students must take six required courses in areas that are central to computer information systems. These areas are data structures, computer architecture, database management systems, data communications, user interface design, and software engineering. If you received your law degree from an ABA-approved law school in the United States, please apply through our regular LL.M. program. An applicant who has studied in a foreign country may qualify to take the New York state bar examination by submitting to the New York State Board of Law Examiners satisfactory proof of the legal education as required by Part 520.6 of the Rules of the Court of Appeals for the Admission of Attorneys and Counselors at Law. For foreign law graduates whose law degree does not meet the durational equivalency requirements, the applicant can satisfy the requirements by successfully earning an LL.M. degree by completing a full-time or part-time program consisting of a minimum of 24 semester hours of credit in professional law subjects, in an approved law school in the United States. Please see the program curriculum for details. LL.M. Application & Procedures Applicants are reminded that this application will only be considered upon receipt of all required materials. All foreign law graduates seeking an LL.M. in this program must begin the program in August and participate in a brief orientation. Dual Master Degree Program (ME/MBA) Earn Two Master's Degrees in Two Years At Clarkson University, you have the opportunity to earn two master's degrees in two years, developing your engineering and management skills in a stimulating, project-based environment. Students first complete a program leading to a 30-credit hour, non-thesis Master of Engineering (ME) degree. This program focuses on practical design applications in an environment that spans the boundaries between traditional disciplines. You must submit your application to the ME program first which will then be sent to the Graduate Business Programs Office for evaluation. Students accepted into the ME/MBA dual degree program will have an opportunity to complete the necessary business foundation requirements in the summer through the Business Concepts Program after earning the ME but prior to the start of the MBA program. These foundation courses will be offered at no tuition cost to participants in this dual degree program. The second year, you will earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, emphasizing teamwork and leadership and managerial skills, again benefiting from Clarkson's size, which allows individual attention from professors. At the end of this experience, you will have enhanced your engineering skills and learned valuable management skills - both of which will further your career. Master of Engineering This special non-thesis program can be viewed as a professional extension of your undergraduate degree. The curriculum will prepare you for advanced work in engineering. You will learn from faculty who have achieved national and international recognition for their work. You can earn the Master of Engineering in any of Clarkson's engineering departments: chemical & biomolecular, civil & environmental, electrical & computer, and mechanical & aeronautical. The program assumes you have an undergraduate degree in an appropriate engineering discipline and will continue studying in that area or a related field. The Business Concepts Program Upon review of your undergraduate transcript(s), the Graduate Business Programs Office will notify you if you need to take any required business foundation courses. Students may be required to take up to a maximum of 10 courses (1.5 credits each) at no additional tuition cost. These summer courses provide a solid business foundation and are required before you begin the MBA. Master of Business Administration (MBA) Teamwork is a central focus of Clarkson's MBA program. We emphasize the development of effective communication skills, including oral, written and multimedia methods. The core courses use cases, behavioral role-playing, and simulation gaming as teaching methods. Several hands-on projects, consulting assignments, and global business program opportunities provide application of theory to real business situations. The MBA program begins in mid-August and is completed by early May. The Clarkson MBA program is accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), a distinction enjoyed by only 33 percent of business schools in the United States. ME/MBA Admission To Apply for this dual degree program, you need to complete: 1.One application (good for both degrees) - once your application is reviewed for the Master of Engineering program, your file will be sent to the Graduate Business Programs Office for evaluation for the MBA program. 2.Two Essays 3.Resume 4.The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) Exam 5.International Students must also submit a TOEFL exam For the School of Engineering, a TOEFL score of 550 PBT, 230 CPT, or 80 iBT is required For the School of Business, a TOEFL score of 600 PBT, 250 CPT, or 100 iBT is required. In addition, students will be required to complete a TSE (Test of Spoken English). This can be completed by either scoring a 100 or better on the TOEFLiBT exam or by calling the Graduate Business Programs Office for a brief telephone interview. If a student is accepted for the dual degree program, letters of acceptance and notification of merit-based scholarships will come from both offices. If a student is denied acceptance into the Master of Engineering program, it is still possible to be admitted into the MBA program and vice versa. Costs and Financial Aid More than 90 percent of students in the dual degree program receive financial aid. The School of Engineering provides some merit-based tuition scholarships during the Master of Engineering year. For this scholarship, students will work as a research or teaching assistant. The School of Business offers merit-based scholarships as well but in the form of tuition waivers. During the MBA program, students can also work as a graduate assistant earning up to $1,500 per semester. [-]
