The Department of Modern Languages affiliated to the Faculty of Letters, History and Theology has the mission to offer students a high standard education in the field of foreign languages and literatures. The new international criteria of evaluation of study programmes, as well as the new requirements of the job market determined the implementation of innovative, more dynamic and pragmatic, educational strategies. The Department of Modern Languages also aims at achieving academic excellence and an enhanced international visibility. All faculty members are actively involved in teaching undergraduate and graduate students for a foundation understanding of a broad range of disciplines followed by the opportunity for in-depth study in a chosen area. The Translation Theory and Practice programme is a full-time taught Master’s degree which continues the bachelor’s study programme in Applied Modern Languages. The programme is addressed mostly, but not only, to graduates of Modern Languages specialising in English or French, or any other graduate who masters one of these languages at level B2-C1 in the Common European Framework of Reference. The studies cover 2 academic years (4 semesters). The study programme is allotted 120 transferable credits, 30 /semester. Correlating its aim with the requirements of the labour market, the Translation Theory and Practice programme educates specialists with complex and complementary skills, the kind of education needed for leadership in a rapidly changing world.
