The University of Groningen offers a new International Relations Master's programme, focusing on East Asian states and markets, politics and economics, nationalism and internationalism. All studied from a contemporary perspective. How can we explain the dynamism and growth of East Asia? What are the opportunities and impediments for trade and investment? What could be said about national attitudes towards international cooperation, integration and globalization? Study abroad - For an average of 10 weeks - Maximum of 10 EC The University of Groningen has study centers in Beijing, Shanghai and Osaka and offers multi-faculty exchange programmes with various partner universities in China, Korea and Japan (max. 10 ECTS). Students can also propose a work placement in this programme (10 ECTS or approximately 2 months), for instance in a private sector company, international organization, embassy or NGO related to, or situated in East Asia. Previous Education - Bachelor's Degree in International Relations and International Organization (University of Groningen) ( direct admission) - Relevant other Bachelor's Degree:Students with either a university Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences (including - but not limited to - Economics, Political Science, Development Studies, Psychology, Sociology, Social Geography), or an internationally oriented university Bachelor's degree such as International Relations, Regional Studies, European/International Law, or (Modern) History are eligible to apply. All students with a non-Dutch degree must at first apply online. In addition to the standard required documents, the IRIO Admissions Board also requires: - a copy of an English language test result. All students, except native speakers, must have a minimum TOEFL score of 92-93 (internet-based), IELTS: a minimum score of 6.5 per category, or a minimum Cambridge score of C1/B2. The only exception could be made for the students with a BA/MA diploma from a University in an officially English speaking country. - a copy of your Bachelor Thesis or another sample of academic writing (about 15 to 20 pages).
