The Master in ethnomusicology is offered jointly by the University of Geneva (Musicology Unit), the University of Neuchâtel (Institute of Ethnology) and the Geneva School (Haute école) of Music. Led by a team of specialists working in close collaboration with the professional sector, the programme also boasts an extensive network of international contacts. Ethnomusicology is the study of music and the practices related to it, in the Western world and beyond. In addition, ethnomusicology focuses on the transmission of music, with particular emphasis on its social and cultural aspects and the rituals associated with it. The programme trains students in methodological approaches in ethnomusicology and includes a segment on reflective musical practice, as well as an internship/work placement or a thesis. [+]
