It aims to build on knowledge and competencies acquired during a bachelor degree and to prepare students for a professional career using English. It also aims to broaden the scientific horizons of all those already working, as is the case of teachers. It provides students with the oral and written skills to be able to work within an English-speaking professional environment and establishes a coherent basis for those who wish to pursue research careers in this field within PhD degrees. As an acknowledged post-Bolonha degree, it is a degree that will be recognized in a variety of international contexts. Students will study subjects in the three areas of Linguistics, Culture and Literature through an approach which combines the theoretical and the practical, as well as the historical and the contemporary. The programme focuses on the English and North-American contexts as well as other international contexts where English is a language of communication. Through the inclusion of optional subjects in the course, students are encouraged to create individualised professional trajectories which take into account their future careers – or their present professional needs and requirements.
