The Master in Data Science for Complex Economic Systems is a one year full-time postgraduate program (II level Master Degree) taught in English and welcomes students from different disciplines (e.g. economics, physics, computer science and political science). The Master provides theoretical and methodological tools to understand and analyse complex systems which typically exhibit nonlinear behaviour resulting from the interaction of heterogeneous agents, hierarchy and continuous innovation. These properties require exploring new visions and expanding education beyond the frontier of traditional economic studies. In addition to the standard toolkit of economics and econometrics, the program takes a path-breaking perspective on advanced analytics, including big data, machine-learning network analysis, and agent-based simulation. The Master applies this pioneering approach to modelling, management, forecasting and policymaking in innovation, urban and consumption systems. The teaching method combines a thorough theoretical training with hands-on laboratories also in collaboration with top research centres and corporations. Our faculty is recruited from top schools (e.g. Écoles Normale Supérieure de Lyon, GREQUAM), on the international academic job market. The faculty also includes scholars from the University of Turin and the Collegio Carlo Alberto. Design is experiencing a time of strong momentum and growth. The rapid evolution of production methods and ways of living require more and more adaptability and innovation. Masters 2016/2017 in Turin Italy. Design is experiencing a time of strong momentum and growth. The rapid evolution of production methods and ways of living require more and more adaptability and innovation. Anticipating and stimulating change have become main factors effecting competitiveness, being an engine for change and effecting contemporary economies. Traditional disciplinary boundaries have been overwhelmed by the need for greater interaction, ability to work in groups and the transfer of technology. Designers are now required to know new design skills and ways of information sharing, as well as have improved ability to listen to the needs of clients. On the other hand, it provides designers with new opportunities to draw on the wealth of traditional knowledge but yet without formal conditions or style obligations. Even when applied to interior architecture, the designer must be able to make use of new skills to delineate separated professions, those typical of the architecture. The way of selling ‘sales’ has changed mainly because of the dissemination of “online shopping” and effect of mass distribution. New forms of shared consumption have been established and commercial spaces now take on new forms and functions. As in many other fields, they are not uniform linear transformations but are rather coexisting contradictory phenomena in very distinct situations. Local businesses have survived mass distribution because ‘zero kilometer’ goods are displayed side by side with goods coming from other continents. Even the shop under your house is not immune to the online buying phenomenon. Each industry sector has developed a mix of technologies and processes that the designer must be able to know how to use and to which the project has to adapt to. The very concept of ownership and selling is being questioned in favor of other forms of access to goods and services. The ‘experience’ of a product remains fundamental, even when a sale is not ‘on the spot’, it has become even more important to transmit the intangible values, narrative and symbology associated with the goods. Creativity, when also applied to a complex issue like commercial spaces can sometimes be rendered in a software program to track a shipment as in an interface to manage to an online business application or an interactive information system, but in any case it must aim to take advantage of new knowledge/systems to improve the effectiveness of the process. MASTER OBJECTIVES There are 3 main objectives. To transmit elements characterizing the Italian "style" in interior design by analysing the works of the main twentieth century architects. To analyse framework elements also technological and cultural innovations that are profoundly changing the relationship between commodity and consumer. In this section beyond the evolution of consumption strategies, students will have in depth study of the relationship between a city as a whole and its commercial functions from urban, sociological and anthropological points of view. In this context, some lessons will be dedicated to the basic understanding of e-commerce given the network a natural extension of the commercial space even though not expressly covered in the domain of interior designers. Finally, we will seek to enrich the technical background of the designer is with reference to technical design and the professional practice both technological knowledge and new materials as the need to focus countless processes in a very short time, is a unique characteristic of commercial installations for where you need to be very familiar with the tools of planning processes and resources and how to share them with the working group. Starting from the needs analysis to the implementation of what was planned, each phase of the work must be systematized and better structured in order to facilitate teamwork and the rationality of the design and manufacturing process; from the comparison with the customer, to the procurement to the management of the times and ways of construction. MASTER COORDINATOR Federico De Giuli Born in 1966, Federico De Giuli is Architect and deals with architectural design and project management of recovery. He is partner and director of the company DORAPAL Spa that deals in the business of real estate development and restoration. For years he has been publishing the magazine Cluster on the issues of the city of design and innovation. He is the coordinator of the Scientific Committee of IAAD and advisor of the Danish Index. REQUIREMENTS AND ADMISSION PROCEDURES // Preliminary Module Preliminary Module can be accessed by graduates and postgraduates in Architecture and professionals seeking a specialization in interior design. Admission depends on the evaluation of the candidacy, which will have to be presented through a cover letter, curriculum vitae and portfolio. Master in Photography for Communication

IAAD Istituto D'Arte Applicata e Design
Campus Full time 9 months November 2016 Italy Turin

The main purpose of the Master’s Module is to develop a new generation of professionals who are able to imagine, design, build and spread their vision with all the necessary tools to deal with the fluidity of the market. [+]

Despite it’s relatively recent discovery, photography has gone through different evolutions changing itself and the world around it. On one side, it has helped us to better understand the many manifestations of reality. On the other side, photography has unhinged our certainties to reveal a metaphysical inner world. With the advent of digital photography, the photographer’s work- from pioneering alchemy in its infancy, to advanced computing today – has undergone a process of democratization that has broadened the basic skill base and raised the level of expectation at the top. To be an exceptional professional photographer today not only requires having technical expertise at shooting and printing but also a broader awareness of the entire creative and production processes. Familiarity with all technological aspects (shooting, editing, post production, presentation, distribution), the different areas and related parties involved are not enough to meet the market’s needs. Creativity and content design are the difference between the role of a person who merely does the work and of a potential creative director. A holistic approach is therefore essential to establish oneself as a leading professional in the industry. CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES The main purpose of the Master’s Module is to develop a new generation of professionals who are able to imagine, design, build and spread their vision with all the necessary tools to deal with the fluidity of the market. More experienced photographers are hired not only as technical experts, but as real creative directors. In this light, it is clear that a multi-disciplinary approach is the main goal. The ability to understand and control the different aspects of a production. Likewise, the main objective of the course is to develop the creative professional who is able to express their vision while being in line with the needs of the customer, thus resolving the dichotomy between the artist and the technical expert. REQUIREMENTS AND ADMISSION PROCEDURES // Preliminary Module Candidates who are highly motivated, already have an understanding of photographic equipment and their own vision but are keen to increase critical awareness of themselves and knowledge of photographic tools, may access the Module Preliminary. // Master Module In order to access to Master’s Module from Preliminary, all exam in the latter must be passed and 60 ECTS must be achieved in the manner described above. Direct access to the Master’s Module is possible only with the approval of the Co-ordinator of the course based on the evaluation of academic qualifications, professional curriculum and portfolio.
