These two industry leaders forecast an increase of close to 5% in activity over the next years and estimations indicate that the annual increase of large commercial airplanes will induce a doubling of the number of aircraft by 2030. Nearly sixty percent of the turnover is subcontracted all over the world and concerns mostly production and manufacturing activities. As a consequence most aeronautical subcontracting companies will have to increase their production rates but also to keep up to date with technological changes; moving from metallic processes toward composite materials processes. Moreover the aircraft manufacturers have changed their supply chain structure in the last years, and subcontractors are now required to manage more complex parts and to take over, on their own, the qualification processes. Aims and Scope Why are some countries so poor while others are so much more affluent? Development economics is trying to provide an answer to this difficult question. The quest for this answer takes place either (i) at the level of states and countries, looking at international issues as well as into the political economy of government failure in poor countries, or (ii) at the level of individuals and firms, with a view to understanding how these microeconomic agents are able to cope in such difficult environments. The Public Policy and Development (PP&D) Master’s program aims at equipping its students with the tools required to become part of that quest at the cutting edge. It offers a large range of courses that allow students to start a PhD in the best possible conditions, particularly those who have not yet chosen their research topic. Curriculum (2016-2017) Doctoral Track The "Doctoral track" allows students to acquire a thorough and advanced general training in economic theory (micro, macro and econometrics) before choosing a specific area of research. This program is specially designed for students interested in micro and macro theory, econometrics, industrial organisation and other theoretical and applied fields. It offers a large range of courses that allow students to start a PhD in the best possible conditions. Students must complete 8 graduate courses of 30 hours (4 at the 1st Semester and 4 at the 2nd semester) and write a Master thesis in application to the PhD course. Master thesis, advised by a faculty member, should show the aptitude and the skills of the students to do autonomous research in application to the PhD course.
