This program certified by EABHES – lasting for 26 months in total – comprises three phases: The Professional Photography in two-year Program, from September to May (semester 1 and 2) then from September to May (semester 3 and 4). The Expert Modules, from the end of May to the end of July (cf. below). The planning and elaboration of the Master project, which needs to be submitted to a jury twice: an oral defense of the pre-project allows the students to validate their professional projects’ feasibility and coherence; the final jury’s comments assess the projects’ future implementation. First Year of Graduated Studies: The first year of Graduate Studies (Diplôme Universitaire), MMEF - Mathematical Methods in Economics and Finance, is a one-year, full-time, international programme that is taught in English. The courses correspond to those taught in the first year of Graduate Studies, which in the Bologna European Academic System is the first year M1 of the Masters. The courses derive from pre-existing courses at the university, with intensive courses in French. The degree is devoted to the training of students in the use of mathematical models in economics and finance: mathematical economics, strategic analysis, decision theory, stochastic models, mathematical finance and optimization models. The training is built around a large spectrum of courses, which aim to give the knowledge for the modelization of economic and financial problems, for mathematical formalization and tools for the numerical solutions. The new models in finance, economics and decision theory need a coherent training in these fields. Around 50 students are welcomed each year. Admission is made on the basis of academic excellence. All applicants must be fluent in written and spoken English and have a recognized Bachelor Degree or equivalent (180 ECTS credits in the Bologna system). Preference is given to students in economics, finance or mathematics. Mathematical aptitude and work experience can be helpful. Continuation to the QEM Erasmus Mundus Master: After the first year of the MMEF Degree, successful students who want to get a Masters Degree, may apply to: - the QEM1, the first year (QEM1) of The Erasmus Mundus Master course, QEM - Models and Methods of Quantitative Economics; or - the accelerated track that corresponds to a combination of the Summer Semester and second year of the QEM (QEM2). Despite an apparent return to a pure and fresh creativity, the components of fashion design related jobs have dramatically changed. Imagining garments in an intuitive way is only one aspect of a designer’s responsibilities. A head designer or a creative director must not only anticipate social and aesthetic changes, but also understand the strategic issues faced by brands in terms of positioning, market potential and communication. Our Master of Arts in Contemporary Fashion Design was specifically designed to address these changes and is aimed at Fashion Design graduates who want to go beyond product design and development. The program has 3 main objectives : - Enriching our students’ fashion and creative culture with modules especially designed for this course. For instance our ‘Fashion Cross Culture’ module was developed with the Musée des Arts Décoratifs to provide a more sophisticated approach towards the analysis of cultural discrepancies and their effect on fashion. Another key module would be “Fashion Product Semiology”. It uses semiology as a methodology to decode a garment and to decrypt its aesthetic aspect in order to better understand how it is perceived. - Developing student creativity with modules such as « Creative Process» that helps students become more aware of their own “creative logic” and increase their potential. The addition of practical workshops will provide students with a new approach on known production and designing techniques. For example the “Pattern and Draping Development” module introduces new research methods based on experimentation and opens new perspectives for students when it comes to finding inspiration. - Helping our students understand how the fashion industries work and how brand strategies are crafted on a global context. Marketing, organisational issues, financial challenges as well as image and communication strategies will be discussed in a series of various modules The course ends with students developing their own collection project with the guidance of a tutor. This project includes creating a garment and/or an accessories collection. The process involves designing prototypes for 12 silhouettes as well as developing marketing and business plans. The programme in Digital Media Technology focuses on enabling technologies for digital media systems, including technologies for analysing media, generating interactive media, processing and coding, optimising wired and wireless transfer, and distributing digital 3D contents. Graduates of the DMT programme will be both specialists and innovators that are able to shape future digital media technology. The first year will be similar at both DMT entry point universities KTH and TU Delft with four basic courses on signal processing, computer graphics, web services, and communication networks. The second year will accommodate the technical specialisation. The programme will offer six specialisations: (1) Hypermedia, (2) Media Processing and Communications, (3) Medical Imaging, (4) Media Communications Services, (5) Virtual Environments, (6) Semantic Media. Programme The first year is similar at the two entry points with four basic courses on signal processing, computer graphics, programming web services and internet communication. In addition, some elective courses may be chosen to prepare for a specialisation. An important part of the programme are the Innovation & Entrepreneurship (I&E) courses. The I&E basics course provides an introduction to business and management. The Business Development Lab extends media systems engineering projects by a market survey, a business model generation process, and a venture development exercise. We emphasize user driven innovation and holistic analysis of service, technology, organisation and financial perspectives, as new media technologies are disruptive for existing business models and almost always have a significant impact on the culture and social relations. Society-relevant themes will also be at the core of the summer schools, which will bring students from the different entry points together. Students participating in the DMT track are offered an internship with an industry partner or research centre of the EIT Digital to work on their thesis project. Directly linked to the master thesis is the I&E minor thesis that specifies the requirements, strategy and business plan for the selected thesis project. The I&E thesis allows students to study issues such as user driven digital media innovation and evaluation of user experience social media digital media ecosystem analysis, business models for content providers in the context of next generation networks, role of video communication and collaboration tools in enterprises, business aspects of e-health and telemedicine services. Through this partnership, unique in its kind, the two institutions will give a new dimension to their educational projects which will give a truly European value: at the beginning of a.y. 2013-2014, the courses France-Italy and Italy-France will be accessible to students of both schools. The traditional disciplinary boundaries are overwhelmed by the need for greater interaction, ability to work in groups and technology transfer. Designers are required to know new tools of representation and sharing of information as well as to improve skills of listening to the needs. However, new opportunities open for designers who are asked to draw on the wealth of traditional knowledge without conditions or obligations formal style. The product of creativity, also applied to a theme as old as the living, can become a software that helps us orient ourselves or an interface to manage a home automation application but in any case it must be time to take advantage of new knowledge to improve the welfare and meet the need for comfort. It seems clear, even from this brief introduction, that the master is not intended only to transfer a pre-established knowledge and consolidated experience as the use of techniques, materials typical of other fields such as literature, chemistry, neurosciences, cinema, computer science. Finally we want to give space to the themes typical of professional practice and management of the project and to the team of employees that the customer, considered part of the quality of work of the designer.
