This course provides an opportunity at master's level for professionally qualified engineers to explore in depth specific engineering aspects by undertaking a substantial research study in a major field of engineering. As part of this course students undertake at least 48 credit points of coursework and a research project of 48 credit points (over a period of one year) under individual academic supervision. The subjects offered in this course follow an integrated approach to professional practice through compulsory professional engineering subjects, compulsory subjects relevant to the chosen major, an independent engineering graduate project in at least one field of engineering, and a set of electives (any engineering or IT subjects, some with prior approval).
