Master Advanced Manufacturing Processes for Aeronautical Structures (AMPAS) A booming industry After a short recession period, the Aeronautical industry market is facing a rapid and continuous increase worldwide as shown by the record breaking contracts recently signed by both Airbus and Boeing. These two industry leaders forecast an increase of close to 5% in activity over the next years and estimations indicate that the annual increase of large commercial airplanes will induce a doubling of the number of aircraft by 2030. Nearly sixty percent of the turnover is subcontracted all over the world and concerns mostly production and manufacturing activities. As a consequence most aeronautical subcontracting companies will have to increase their production rates but also to keep up to date with technological changes; moving from metallic processes toward composite materials processes. Moreover the aircraft manufacturers have changed their supply chain structure in the last years, and subcontractors are now required to manage more complex parts and to take over, on their own, the qualification processes. At the heart of Europes Aerospace Valley The Midi-Pyrénées is home to the global headquarters of Airbus and over 600 subcontracting businesses, employing more than 60,000 employees. The French space agency (CNES), as well as Thales and EADS Astrium are also present in the area along with their lot of subcontractors. Course Program A ship, whether sailing boat or motoryacht, is a complex product that integrates several systems for propulsion, living quarters, and various accessory functions. Every decision about one of the technical systems (hull, appendages, interior layout, propulsion, onboard equipment) also affects all the others. A yacht, whether made series or as one-off, calls for many different construction techniques and a variety of materials. Its interior will reflect design language and fashion, while market competition tends to imbue every ship with a certain amount of innovation. The Specializing Master takes this complexity into account and intersperses classroom experience – nine learning modules that outline different disciplinary fields – with design exercises and visits to shipyards and companies active in the industry, as well as to applied research institutes. Internship The internship is required, lasts three months, and is carried out at leading design studios and shipyards. It enables students to transfer skills acquired during the course to a real-life design or production context and to deal with the world of shipbuilding. The Board shall admit applicants who have qualifications in disciplines other than those specified above, if the Master may complete the training of the applicant or the professional skills and experience shown by same. The Master is completely in English: preference will be given to candidates with a good knowledge of English. Admission procedure Admission to the Specializing Master in Yacht Design will depend on a selection process made by the Specializing Master's Board. Aims and Scope This master aims at providing econometric and empirical analysis tools combined with strong skills in using large data sets in order to perform deep studies in a broad area of economics. The EEE M2 program provides in the first semester a solid training in microeconometrics, time series, panel data models, non-parametric methods, large dimension statistical tools, computer programming, and database management system. In the second semester, students apply these training to do empirical studies in industrial organization, finance, public policy evaluation programs, health and insurance, data analytics and big data. Courses are taught in English by TSE faculty members with well-established international reputation in econometrics, empirical economics, industrial organization, and finance among others. This training is completed with an empirical project done during the whole year in a group of students. Admission Admission is based on academic excellence. An undergraduate degree of at least 4 years of college or a Master’s degree is required with a curriculum considered as consistent with the program and approved by the TSE selection committee.
