International Master Degree - Electrical Energy Conversion & Power Systems Objectives: The main goal of the Master's Degree in "Electrical Energy Conversion and Power Systems" is to train qualified experts in areas related to electrical energy management and power systems applied to renewable energies. The Master presents a double approach: scientific and professional. Concerning the scientific part, training is based on the design of two main applications: Electrical Power Systems and Electrical and Hybrid Traction Systems. On the other hand, concerning the professional part training is based on the management of electrical energy. Thus, the subjects included in this professional part, have been designed following two main ideas: the consumers’ management of energy and the generation and transmission of electrical energy in a free market. Three main lines have been considered as keystones in the Master: Electrical Power Systems. Electrical and Hybrid Vehicles. Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies. Course Structure: The Master is divided into 4 terms with a duration of two years (120 ECTS): The first term is an equalization stage that offers optional courses designed to promote the homogenization of the students' knowledge are offered. The second term offers several compulsory courses for all the students. These subjects will promote the acquisition of the common skills of the Master. The third term has been designed following two possible tracks: professional and research. The first one is focused on the acquisition of the required competences for the management of electric energy, with a special emphasis on energy efficiency and renewable energies. The second track approaches the technology development and the industrial design established in the specific competences of the master guide lines: "Power systems" and "Electric / Hybrid vehicle". The last term has been designed to complete the training of students. The courses given in this period are based on general teaching. In addition, students have to complete their Master's Thesis. Student Profile: This Master is oriented towards Technical Engineers, Engineers or other graduates interested in Power Systems related to Energy Efficient Conversion. Candidates are expected fulfil the following requirements: Oral and written communication skills in the master official language (English). Ability to work in teams and set long-term personal relationships with people of other nationalities and cultures. Interest in acquiring new skills and being decisive; eagerness to be in a constant learning process. Location: The Master Degree will be taught at the Campus of Viesques of the University of Oviedo, located in Gijón, where more than 3,000 students attend undergraduate, master and doctoral degrees at present.
