Branch covers a wide range of energy issues. It introduces students to energy policy and presents it as one of the pillars of electricity and heat production in the Czech Republic. Graduates will be able to assess the choice of technology used in new energy sources according to criteria for maximum energy efficiency and minimum emissions. Students gain practical experience by contributing to the improvement of the cooperation of the Department and Faculty with various institutions and workplaces in the Czech Republic and abroad aimed at achieving a high level of expertise on the latest research equipment. All students deepen their knowledge of the theory of fluid mechanics, heat transfer and mass transfer and combustion, and study further on the construction and operation of the basic units of power equipment such as boilers, turbines, compressors, power stations, internal combustion engines and acquires of water management in energy, air and traffic control, diagnostics and maintenance in power. Students choose from one of the four specializations. For "Thermal power equipment and industrial power" possibilities include heat, nuclear power plants or the use of secondary sources of energy. For the specialization "Alternative energy and environmental technology" possibilities include ventilation and air conditioning, alternative and renewable energy sources and energy use of biomass and waste. The third specialization “Construction of steam boilers and heating equipment”, prepares specialists in the field of thermal calculations, design and construction of steam boilers, and is characterized by subjects: a steam boiler II, materials and strength design of boiler parts and design methodology in the field. Fourth specialization “Nuclear power equipment” prepares specialists in thermal and hydraulic calculations, design and construction of nuclear power plant components and is characterized by subjects: chemistry in nuclear energetic, nuclear power equipment, manufacturing technology of nuclear components, nuclear power machinery and applied mechanics in nuclear energetic. Graduates get good jobs, and practical application, whether it is focused on the design, operation and management.
Key Learning Outcomes
The objective of this study branch is the education of an engineer prepared for design, operation or managing work in power engineering and Energy Technology and in connected branches. In the basic, mandatory study programme, a student deepens his/her knowledge in the theory of fluid mechanics, the transfer of heat and mass and combustion and is thoroughly acquainted with the design and operation of basic units in the energy branches such as boilers, turbines, compressors, power units, combustion engines and obtains knowledge from the areas of water management in power engineering, air protection and operation, regulation, diagnostics and maintenance in power engineering.
Students choose one of three possible specializations, and from options within each. For the specialization “Thermal Energetic Equipment and Industrial Power Engineering”, he/she can select for example, the gas industry, the heating industry, nuclear power equipment or the use of secondary energy sources. For the specialization “Alternative Energy and Environmental Technology” subjects include ventilation and air conditioning, alternative and renewable sources of energy or the energetic use of biomass and waste. The third specialization “The Construction of Stream Boilers and Thermal Equipment”, as a preparation of specialists in the areas of thermal calculations, with the design and construction of steam boilers, is characterized by the subjects, for example: steam boilers II, the materials and strength dimensions of boiler parts or construction methods.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Energy and Energy is part of almost all human activities. Graduates may work in energy companies, project organizations, and so on. Students during their study will be familiar with the production of heat and electricity, resource-efficient materials, incl. biomass and waste, will be able to identify sources of pollution, use diagnostic energy processes, handle design of combustion devices able to use both fossil and renewable energy sources.
