Objectives and teaching methodology Design is experiencing a time of strong momentum and spreading. Anticipating and stimulating change has become one of the main drivers of growth and competitive factor of contemporary economies. The traditional disciplinary boundaries are overwhelmed by the need for greater interaction, ability to work in groups and technology transfer. Designers are required to know new tools of representation and sharing of information as well as to improve skills of listening to the needs. However, new opportunities open for designers who are asked to draw on the wealth of traditional knowledge without conditions or obligations formal style. The product of creativity, also applied to a theme as old as the living, can become a software that helps us orient ourselves or an interface to manage a home automation application but in any case it must be time to take advantage of new knowledge to improve the welfare and meet the need for comfort. It seems clear, even from this brief introduction, that the master is not intended only to transfer a pre-established knowledge and consolidated experience as the use of techniques, materials typical of other fields such as literature, chemistry, neurosciences, cinema, computer science. Finally we want to give space to the themes typical of professional practice and management of the project and to the team of employees that the customer, considered part of the quality of work of the designer. In addition to the conscience of the economics of the project, students IAAD must acquire the ability to do marketing of themselves - essential to present and understand their work and their skills. During the course, great importance is given to presentations and design contest: students are encouraged to make presentations of their work and supported to participate in national and international contests: the projects must not only meet the designers, but they must be able to be appreciated and understood by juries of experts and the public. Interior design is a clearly expressed system created to respond to multiple demands for identity, performance, emotional and physical comfort of individuals and groups. Course contents deal with concept design, space planning, interior layout and display. The programme provides discerning insights into the language of materials, lighting, colour, furniture and the integration of technical components. The relation with the building is deeply investigated. All these aspects meet in the studio classes led by renowned professionals that support the creation of a working knowledge base. Collaborations with brands and institutions enable the students to comprehend how interiors comunicate the brand values in a retail environment or in a corporate space through the use of architectural elements and spatial graphics. As a result of this education, on the one hand students are encouraged to develop a conceptual approach in design practice gaining a strategic under standing of elements and processes involved. On the other hand, technical representation and architectural detailing serve the students as a mirror for reviewing their design and refining their professional skills. ADMISSION Upon selection the Master admits graduates in Interior Design or Architecture, Product Design or equivalents and students from academies of applied arts; candidates who have gained significant professional experience in the field. The program has a limited number of places available. Applicants will be admitted upon selection based on the student’s CV, portfolio and on an interview.
