As a student of intercultural studies, this understanding forms the basis of your studies of virtually all cultural phenomena and historical circumstances. Encounters between cultures and the consequent intercultural conduct and interplay are the focal points of the programme. The programme focuses on developing your ability to navigate and act practically and theoretically based on the cultural, internationalised landscape with a view to communicating with the international partners of your organisation, identifying opportunities for development and challenges, and initiating projects and opening up new paths. A new type of programme Intercultural studies is a brand-new educational concept which provides students with the competences needed to function in and analyse various intercultural contexts as well as improving their foreign-language skills. This is the only degree programme that you can study in both English and another foreign language (German, French or Spanish). You can also choose to follow the entire programme in English. In the courses conducted in English, you will be working with students from all the other language lines on the programme, while the courses conducted in the other languages only include students of either German, French, Spanish (or Latin-American Spanish) or English. This means that classes vary in size from 10-15 students and up to 35 students. Consequently, the working methods vary a great deal as well. The degree programme provides students with knowledge and skills in language, intercultural communication and competence, and cultural understanding from the perspective of globalisation. Furthermore, the programme contains elements of project management and the opportunity to do a one-semester internship. You will be studying key contemporary themes from a historical perspective within the fields of culture, language and society, and will often work in groups and with projects and cases. *If you wish to pursue a career in teaching, for example in upper-secondary school, you should choose line B in one of the other Master’s degree programmes in languages which include a Master’s supplementary subject. Structure The five different foreign language combinations follow the same basic structure, but address specific cultural characteristics, products and issues, as well as the respective problems that may arise in relation to intercultural communication. In the first semester, we will be working on understanding globalisation and intercultural issues, partly as a theoretical concept (in the course “Cultural Interactions”) and partly as a cultural reality in specific cultural areas at given times (in the course “Local Representation”. Although the title of this course is in English, teaching takes place in German, French, Spanish or English, depending on your language choice). In the second semester, we will be putting theory into practice when the course “Cultural Interactions” from the first semester leads to a practical, intercultural project (“Managing Cultural Interactions”). In “Intercultural Communication and Competence” we will be addressing intercultural linguistic issues. In the course “Communication, Media and Intercultural Identities”, we will examine the correlation between media production and identity constructions in various areas. In the third semester, students have the opportunity to study either in Denmark or abroad. If students choose to study abroad, they must follow relevant courses at a foreign university or do an internship (which can also be done in an internationally oriented organisation based in Denmark). If you choose to study in Denmark, you must follow a practice-oriented course in international project management and implementation, as well as an elective profile course. The MMUS Rhythmic Music Teacher degree course at The Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus, is a 2-year course during which students build upon the knowledge, skills, and qualifications as rhythmic musicians and teachers acquired during the BMus degree course. Taking their musicianship as a starting point, students immerse themselves in two or three supplementary main subjects in addition to the main instrument. Main Instrument Pedagogics may constitute one of these main subjects. The main subjects must correspond to at least 6 semesters of tuition, are selected from the main subject catalogue (q.v.), and incorporate a communicative aspect as well as a pedagogical course.
