All this makes the process of developing distributed software systems significantly more complex than for centralised systems. Cloud Computing and Services will provide students with a system of knowledge both in formal foundations, technological platforms and practical skills in implementing distributed software applications. The programme will also provide an insight into current and future directions of the distributed software development. After completion of the study, students understand and know how to use large distributed systems. On top of this they are also capable of designing and constructing cloud computing systems and services on networking and computing infrastructures. This master degree program attempts to tackle the need for qualified personnel in this field, since computer vision is becoming a fundamental component in multiple systems, such as assisting medical diagnosis and cirurgy, car driving, quality control and surveillance applications, or improving interfaces for multimedia data access. The master as a whole is coordinated by UAB (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona), and program has been designed jointly with UOC (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya), UPC (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya) and UPF (Universitat Pompeu Fabra). Researchers from all 4 universities are participating in this program. Career options This master's degree provides skills and expertise that can be used in many fields, allows theoretical knowledge to be quickly applied and produces multidimensional engineering professionals who can work with many systems of various applications, such as image retrieval from content, interpretation and automatic annotation of videos, extracting three-dimensional information from different views and improving the appearance of the image content. It is a technological field that requires highly-trained personnel and is of rapidly increasing scientific interest. Teaching timetable Afternoon (Monday and Tuesday from 16h to 19h, Wednesday and Thursday from 16h to 18h). Master description This is a 1-year master's degree (60 ECTS), taught over 2 semesters of 30 credits each. The contents focus on techniques and problems in computer vision (CV). The master's comprises 9 compulsory modules, of which 8 count for 6 ECTS, and a master's dissertation for 12 ECTS. This master's degree offers no specialisations or tracks, which means that all modules are compulsory. Access Access to this master's degree is open to holders of an official bachelor's degree from a Spanish university or from another higher education institution within or outside the European Higher Education Area, provided this gives access to postgraduate studies in the country of issue. Admission requirements As stipulated in the interuniversity collaboration agreement, the Joint Master's Committee (the general coordinator plus each university's coordinator and the module coordinators) or, if so agreed, a delegated sub-committee, is responsible for evaluating applicants' previous studies and making a selection. This committee presents the list of applicants admitted to the Master's Committee of the UAB School of Engineering, which approves it and refers it to the rector of the UAB for his resolution. The admission criteria are as follows: - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics or Physics, or equivalent qualification. - English level B1 of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
