Content The Master's degree programme in Business Informatics consists of: Advanced professional studies 15 ECTS Alternative advanced professional studies 10 ECTS from a set of choices Elective studies 5 ECTS Master’s Thesis 30 ECTS Each student plans and implements a development project in/for real business life, typically for their work organization. In doing so, the student’s research, project and change management skills will be enhanced. Networking, team, and negotiation skills also improve in the multi-cultural, tied-to-business setting in which this Master’s DP is carried out. This R&D project will be reported as a Master’s Thesis (30 ECTS). Study Period The Master's Degree Programme in Business Informatics is organized so that its participants can combine studying with full-time work. The length of studies is determined by the entry line through which the student gets accepted. When studying on a part-time basis, the student can achieve the Master’s degree in 1,5 years, however with flexibility both ways. Contact Sessions Contact sessions take place mainly on Fridays (9.00-16.15), approximately twice a month. Occasionally, evening classes or an intensive weekend session may be arranged. Various forms of e-learning will also be applied. A significant feature of learning in the Master's Degree Programme of Business Informatics comes from its multi-disciplinary approach: all courses leading to the Master of Engineering degree are shared with Business Informatics students aiming to become Masters of Business Administration. A lot is expected from the participants, a lot is also given by the professionals of business and academics lecturing and leading the sessions. Some sessions take place in the facilities of the business companies participating in the network. Joint sessions with partner universities will be arranged (intensive weeks, study trips, etc). Study abroad options such as Summer School or Winter School will also be introduced via the international partner network. These are expected to bring about agreements on possible joint or double degrees at a later stage. Scholarships Per each degree programme it is agreed that 50% of the applicants coming outside EU / EEA countries, having the most successful results in the entrance examination, will receive a full exemption from the tuition fee in the first academic year. The Degree Programme in Aviation and Tourism Business has two paths: Aviation and tourism, and it leads to a Master’s degree in Hospitality Management. The programme consists of 90 credits. It is based on a 210 cr Bachelor’s degree. The programme prepares students to take on diverse professional tasks, for example organisational development and management. It also assists students in their quest for life-long learning and professional skills that function as a foundation for professional growth. The Degree Programme in Aviation and Tourism Business is based on the future needs of the aviation and tourism industries with a focus on customer-orientation, globalisation, continuous change and sustainability. The programme is planned especially for experts in travel agencies, tour operating, transportation, travel management and tourism organisations. The goal is to raise the know-how of an expert to a developer level. The emphasis is on anticipation, design thinking and responsibility in the aviation and tourism businesses and on learning to cope with change. Eligibility to apply to the Master level degree programme requires: a Bachelor’s (or a higher) degree in an equivalent field and at least three years (36 months) of relevant work experience to be completed after finalizing the Bachelor degree. Work Experience Any work experience must have been obtained no later than 31 July 2017 for the spring application period. Work certificates must have a start and an end date of employment and a brief job description. If the applicant has worked part-time, the work certificate must clearly indicate the number of work hours per month. Part-time work will be converted into full-time equivalents such that 150 hours or 20 full working days (at least 7 hours per day) correspond to one month of work. Work experience does not have to be continuous or obtained working for the same employer. Work experience will only be accepted if it is verified by a certificate provided by the employer. Entrepreneurship will be accepted as work experience if an applicant can produce a certificate attesting that he or she is or has been covered under the statutory YEL or MYEL pension scheme for entrepreneurs. No periods of practical work placements or on-the-job learning included in a degree used to apply will be counted towards work experience. Military or non-military national service or child-care leave will not be counted towards work experience. The amount of work experience points awarded for simultaneous employment relationships may not exceed the amount awarded for full-time employment.
