Best Masters in Automation / Autonomous Systems in Sweden 2017. Vehicle Engineering is a broad area of engineering science driven by an ever-increasing degree of mobility in the world. Transport, however, must face the challenge of minimising its environmental impact, requiring new, innovative solutions and capable engineers. This is a field that will continually demand specialists in order to make the transition to sustainable road and rail transport in the future. Programme outline The programme includes two specializations; Road vehicles and Rail vehicles. The Road vehicle specialization includes all road vehicles with a main focus on cars, trucks and buses. In the Rail vehicle specialization, the system aspect is very important, as the different parts of a railway system – vehicle, track, electrification and signalling – all strongly influence each other. The Vehicle Engineering Programme is taught in English and is based on lectures, assignments, simulations and experiments. Degree project To finalize your studies you perform an independent thesis work during a five month period. This can either be performed at a university or, more commonly, at a company. The student is encouraged to actively search for a suitable thesis project in industry, and KTH will provide assistance and suitable points of contact. Career prospects The programme provides an excellent basis for pursuing a career in the global vehicle industry, at consulting companies as well as at universities. The co-operation between the Swedish vehicle industry and the department of Vehicle and Aeronautical Engineering is very close, and there are several major ongoing research programmes where KTH, key manufacturers and the transport administration are involved. Master Programme in Robotics

Robotics is a unique programme that occupies the area where mechanical and electrical engineering and computer technology meet. The depth and breadth of the course (Master Programme in Robotics) allows you considerable freedom of choice as to where you work. The fact that the field is so expansive is not surprising in view of the fact that, before long, robots will have been introduced in almost all types of production systems, and service robots will soon feature as part of our everyday lives

Programme description

The master’s programme provides the student with in-depth knowledge of robot systems, robot simulation and mathematical methods in the field. You can apply for this course (Master Programme in Robotics) irrespective of whether you have studied mechanical or electrical engineering, or computer technology as your first degree worth 180 HE (Higher Education) credits. It also includes an independent project assignment linked to industry and research. Examples of such projects include constructing, simulating or constructing a robot ¬system.... [-]
