The Department of Modern Languages aims at achieving academic excellence and an enhanced international visibility. All faculty members are actively involved in teaching a broad range of subjects, offering the students the opportunity for in-depth instruction in their chosen field. Throughout the past decade, the two-year American Studies MA program has become one of the essential components of the English division of the Modern Languages Department. Designed as an interdisciplinary project, it aims at developing complex critical and analytical skills, while offering a well-articulated perspective upon the United States as a complex reality and socio-cultural phenomenon. Harmoniously blending theoretical and practical approaches to the studied topics, it is meant to equip its students for their careers, involve them in research grants, publishing and editing projects, conferences, (inter)national mobilities, as well as train them for potential PhD enrolment in the field.
