Curriculum Required courses in the core curriculum (30Credits) : History of the Contemporary Middle East Geopolitics and Middle Eastern political regimes Orient, orientalism(s) and the West Political Economy Globalization and cultural issues in Middle East Specialised courses (30Credits) : Concentration in one or more areas of the core curriculum Electives (30Credits) Internship or dissertation (30Credits) Mobility Master’s students are allowed to go on exchange for one semester maximum. Students may go on exchange as early as their third semester but may earn no more than 30 credits at another university. The two-year international interdisciplinary Master’s pro­gramme in Middle Eastern Studies at the Centre for Mid­dle Eastern Studies (CMES) in Lund offers highly qualified students an opportunity to become experts on the Middle East. In addition, our education focuses on personal devel­opment, giving our students the necessary training and sup­port to be successful in their careers after their education.

CMES was selected in 2009 to initiate the research pro­gramme The Middle East in the Contemporary World as part of the Swedish Research Council’s strategic research areas. Since then, CMES has rapidly expanded into a truly inter­national hub for research, public information and cultural events focusing on the Middle East.
