Master of Science in Sustainable Environment and Energy Systems

The SEES M.S. program consists of 7 regular courses, one seminer course, and thesis research, which must add up to at least 21 credits. The 3 mandatory courses are typically taken during the first semester. The rest of the regular course workload consists of electives, to be taken during the second or third semesters. Each student is required to have an interndisciplinary Thesis committee. Although it is highly recommended to select a Thesis advisor, and form a Thesis committee with his/her guidance by the end of the first semester, it is conceivable this process extends into the second semester.


The goals of the program can be summarized as follows:

  • Focus research on scientific environmental audits, technology, system design, and policy development in critical interdisciplinary areas
  • Provide engineers, architects, policy makers, lawyers, business managers, with theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to be successful in delivering goods and services through sustainable means,
  • Develop community awareness programs and centers through collaborations with local communities,
  • Deliver high quality solutions to complex problems through interdisciplinary collaboration by conducting thesis research under interdisciplinary supervision.
