Master of Professional Accounting


The Master of Professional Accounting is designed for graduate undertaking a degree in a discipline other than accounting who wishes to undertake specialist studies to pursue a career in accounting. Graduates will gain the necessary qualifications to enter this dynamic and highly respected profession which is in great demand by industry and business, both in Australia and globally. The Master of Professional Accounting is a first step towards a passport to work anywhere in the world.


This is a fast track program to tertiary Accounting qualification. The program is endorsed by the National Institute of Accountants (NIA) and is accredited by both the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICCA) and CPA Australia (CPAA). Successful completion of the Master of Accounting enables graduates to gain entry to either ICAA or the CPAA professional program.


Successful completion of the ICAA or CPAA program will make graduates eligible for admission as a Chartered Accountant (CA) or as a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA).

For Successful completion of the Master of Professional Accounting students must complete the following 14 units:

Mode of Study


Students will be required to study the units on campus in Fremantle. The course requires that a student complete all 14 units. There are no electives. This will require that students study full-time for four semesters, whilst part-time students are expected to undertake two units per semester. Part-time studies are not available to international students.

Admissions Requirements


Notre Dame encourages applications from people of all backgrounds and takes into consideration the applicant’s academic performance as well as their personal qualities and accomplishments.


Academic requirements are as follows:

  • A Bachelor degree (with major other than Accounting) form a recognized Australian or overseas University demonstrating satisfactory grades.
  • International students will be required to provide evidence of English competency.

Advanced Standing


Advanced standing will be determined by the level of the subject whether an equivalent graduate unit was obtained at another academic institution or whether a similar unit was undertaken as part of an undergraduate degree. Applications for advanced standing are to be submitted separately to Norte Dame and are assessed on an individual basis. Guidelines issued by the ICAA and CPAA are also considered in granting advanced standing.
