Master of Advanced Studies in Humanitarian Logistics and Management
The Master of Advanced Studies in Humanitarian Logistics and Management (MASHLM) is a part-time executive program for professionals. The program takes 20 months to complete, with students attending five sessions in Lugano, each session lasts two weeks.
MASHLM bridges the gaps that exist between strategy and tactics, and tactics and operations. It teaches tools and methodologies, concepts and frameworks, which enable you to better analyze, design, implement, and manage complex humanitarian operations. Learn to optimize supply chains, improve processes, think strategically, and manage projects more successfully.
The program consists of 18 courses divided into five areas of study; Strategic Management, Humanitarian Context, Process and Project Management, Supply Chain Management and Research Methods. Classes are interactive with traditional lectures complemented by games, workshops, simulations, case studies, and group work. Discussion and debate between faculty and students, bring practical know-how into the classroom. A major emphasis is placed on applying the concepts learned in class to the real issues participants face in their jobs.
Each two-week block is followed by final exams and assignments done at home and delivered by Internet.
To complete the program students deliver an applied thesis, which addresses a current challenge in the humanitarian world.
Applications are welcome from individuals with:
- at least three years of relevant work experience;
- a bachelor degree or an equivalent professional diploma awarded by a recognized institution in the area of logistics, humanitarian aid, public service, or non-profit management.
