The Master of Accounting (MAcc) and Master of Finance (MFin) programmes have been designed as a comprehensive suite of programmes that provide students with a common core of knowledge, analysing international developments in the fields of financial reporting, management accounting, corporate finance and financial management. This core supplies the foundation for students to investigate aspects of the subject that are of specific interest to them in depth. The student’s choice of specialisation will lead them to achieve one of our named degrees:
Master of Accounting (MAcc)
Master of Accounting (Corporate Governance)
Master of Accounting (Oil & Gas)
Master of Accounting (Internal Audit) - New for 2009/10
Master of Accounting (Micro-Finance) - New for 2009/10
Master of Accounting (Public Sector Financial Management)
Master of Accounting (Social Entrepreneurial Finance) - New for 2009/10
The programme is suitable for those who may be intending to become professional accountants, and is also appropriate for those who wish to enhance career prospects within a broader managerial role. The MAcc demonstrates the vital importance of accounting to the well-being of the society it should serve. It corrects the common misconception of accountancy being a routine technical process and illustrates vividly the rich role it has to play in shaping international business and indeed politics.
During the one year full-time programme, students’ competencies are developed through the study of leading edge accounting and finance practices and the development of relevant research skills, which also provide a solid foundation for further postgraduate study. Students will be encouraged to apply their knowledge in a business context and to develop their transferable skills at a professional level, together with the self-awareness and personal development appropriate to graduate careers in business.
The MAcc/MFin suite of programmes is also available on a part-time basis.
