Unlimited entry, with evaluation of minimum curricular requirements (quotas for non-EU students residing abroad: 8 places, among which 3 are reserved for Chinese students residing in China, according to the Marco Polo Programme).

Admission requirements

To be admitted to this Second Cycle Degree Programme students must possess a proper individual educational background and the minimum curricular requirements.

A certified knowledge of English at minimum level B2 is required at enrolment.

Learning outcomes

This Second Cycle Degree Programme focuses on chemical sciences, both theoretical and experimental. It produces highly qualified chemists able to devise original ideas, plan and study new reactions or processes, carry out new molecules and material synthesis, set up innovative and complex analytical methods, apply this expertise in the various industrial and production fields, realise initiatives suitable for health and environment protection.

Occupational profiles

Second cycle graduates in Sustainable Chemistry and Technology may competently operate, as employees or freelance professionals, in all of the departments of a modern company or a research institute, as well as perform managerial tasks in chemical, both basic and ‘fine’, and manufacturing industries. Moreover, they may register on the Italian roll of chemists (section A), once the relevant professional licensing examination has been passed.


Open, though laboratory attendance is compulsory.

Examination assessment and graduation

The educational activities include classroom teaching, workshops and internships, in order to acquire wide-ranging skills that can be readily transferable into the world of work.

During the whole university career, the various skills and knowledge acquired by students will be assessed through written and oral examinations.

The degree exam consists in writing a thesis, which must possess the characters of originality, exhaustive documentation and scientific investigation and which will be discussed with a committee of university professors and experts.
