Master in Internet Technologies and Information Systems (M.Sc.)
The international, two-step programme of study (M.Sc.) „Internet Technologies and Information Systems“ (ITIS) is held in the English language and is jointly supported by the Faculties of Computer Sciences of the universities Braunschweig, Clausthal, Göttingen and Hanover.
The programme supplements the courses of studies of Computer Science at the participating universities. It is based on jointly offered courses of the four cooperating universities with use of teleteaching and e-learning. This enables a broad spectrum of courses in the area of Internet technologies and information systems while simultaneously concentrating on these current and important subject areas.
The programme content especially deals with Internet technologies, information systems, networks, grid technology, and related topics. Students also have the possibility of specialising in Telecommunication Business & Law. The contents of the Master's and consecutive doctoral programme are oriented towards the profile of the work group in which the student is accepted. There is an elective compulsory section of the Master's progamme in which students must select from a specified offer and additionally an elective section in which students can correspondingly select courses to prepare for the research task of their work group. The project paper and Master's thesis will also help students in this preparation.
The programme begins with a research-oriented M.Sc. programme in which each student is allocated to a professor to participate in the current projects of his or her research group. Each student will have a personal supervisor so that the teaching plan can be coordinated to the research project. The M.Sc programme is jointly organised by the participating universities.
The two-year Master phase is followed by a three-year doctoral phase. The Master phase can be shortened by one semester with special qualifications. The special qualifications are primarily determined by the performance grade average. The conferral of the doctorate and the admission to the doctoral programme is conducted according to the corresponding doctoral regulations of the university of the supervisor.
