Energy, water, environment, nutrition, health, medicine, materials – welcome to solve the challenges of the future! Chemistry is essential in all breakthroughs for more sustainable living. The Department produces experts who are in great demand in the chemical industry, research and education, but who are also prepared to meet the challenges within environmental research, technical disciplines, medicine, and biosciences.
Teaching in the Master’s studies at the Department of Chemistry is based on high-level international research, currently focused on green chemistry, materials and nanochemistry, computational and theoretical chemistry, synthesis, and chemical analysis. The degree programmes are flexible, and students can shape their studies to match their personal academic interests and take advantage of the entire wide scope of teaching (analytical, inorganic, physical, organic, polymer, and radiochemistry).
Chemistry students have a unique opportunity to participate in the work of research groups through practical training in the laboratories as well as to develop their academic skills when writing their Master’s thesis under the supervision of noted researchers. Quality assurance is a crucial part of the teaching, and the Master’s degree has been certified with Euromaster® qualification.
For students planning an academic career, the Master of Science degree from the Department of Chemistry forms an excellent foundation for PhD studies. The very best Master’s degree graduates will often be recruited as PhD students at the Department.
The application period for International Master´s Programmes beginning the autumn of 2016 (2016 admissions) opens in early December 2015 and closes on January 27, 2016 at 3:00 pm (GMT +2).
