The master´s degree programme in Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering offers an interdisciplinary curriculum at the intersection between the natural sciences chemistry and pharmacy and the engineering science chemical and process engineering. A fundamental understanding of engineering and associated skills is provided, enabling students to carry out high-quality research and to develop innovative systems based on scientific principles. Within the master’s programme students have the opportunity to specialize either in chemical or pharmaceutical engineering. “Intelligent“ pharmaceutical products can be tailored to the age, gender and lifestyle of individual patient. Modern drugs will be produced and delivered in a personalized way, revolutionizing medical care. In this context, shorter development times and reduced production costs are critically needed, which is addressed by the field of pharmaceutical engineering. Also the future chemical industry requires cleaner, highly sustainable and more economical chemical processes, which is addressed by the field of chemical engineering. Career Opportunities Knowledge of computer science can be used in almost every aspect of life – from industry and the services sector to public administration, teaching and research. Graduates specifically deal with support in modelling, design, implementation, assessment and application of complex software systems. Required abilities range from diverse programming tasks and developing modern multimedia solutions to dealing with new media.
The interdisciplinary qualification profile of this master´s degree enables graduates to work in a wide range of positions in the field of chemical and pharmaceutical engineering as well as in environmental technology. Possible areas of employment include:
■ Research, development, process planning and production in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries
■ Environmental management positions in industry and with government authorities
■ Research and teaching at universities and research institutes
