Master in Economics - Accounting and Economics (MSc)
The profile is targeted students that seek positions in management accounting where the student on basis of economic theory is able to analyze the consequences of using different tools in management accounting, covering both more conventional methods and more recent models. The education is designed to allow a career path including jobs at the top level of private or public firms.
The year is divided into two semesters: The autumn semester begins on September 1st and ends just before Christmas. The spring semester begins on February 1st and ends around May/June.
The teaching takes place primarily as lectures and possibly with practical assignment lessons as supplements. Furthermore, individual supervision can occur.
The student must purchase books and other educational material on his/her own.
Each course is completed with an exam. The examination types vary, but can take form as e.g. a written exam, an oral exam, a take-home assignment or a multiple-choice test.
Economics is important to all organizations if they want to survive in our competitive society. Thus the aim of the specialization is to foster candidates whom are useful for organizations in optimizing their economic performance. This includes both private and public organizations.
Jobs in finance and controller departments are the prime targets for candidates but also consulting is important.
The admission requirement for the M.Sc. in Economics (cand.oecon.) in Accounting and Econimics is the Danish three-year Bachelor of Science in Economics, Bachelor of Science in Economics and Business Administration (HA) or Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Economy.
Applicants with other relevant backgrounds can also apply. The applications will be evaluated on an individual basis. It may be required of the applicants to take supplementary courses which must be passed before study start.
