Singapore is aiming to establish itself as the regional hub for tax exchange and in order to do that, there must be a broadening and deepening of tax expertise amongst tax professionals in Singapore.
To raise the professional competency and vibrancy of the tax community, SIM University, in collaboration with the Tax Academy of Singapore (TA), aims to provide world class education and exchange opportunities to all interested parties.
This programme is therefore the answer to the Tax Academy’s grand plans for the tax community!
This programme aims to provide tax professionals and adult learners with advanced training in taxation law and current practices to keep up with the ever-changing trend.
It also aims to contribute to the continuous professional education (CPE) of tax specialists by offering courses that cover current developments and changes in taxation law, corporate reporting and tax-related research methods.
There will be ten courses (four core and six advanced) plus a dissertation to be completed in order to graduate with a MTax degree. There is also an option to replace the dissertation with two other courses selected from the Graduate Diploma (GD) or other Master programmes offered by SIM University.
For graduates of the Advanced Tax Programme (ATP) offered by the Tax Academy, they would need to complete only the six advanced MTax courses plus a dissertation or two replacement courses to graduate with a MTax degree. The exact number of course exemptions available to ATP graduates may be adjusted if changes/additions are made by TA to its ATP units or course structure.
The Master in Taxation programme will take about 12 months (2 semesters) to complete (after completing the ATP programme), with each course having 11 seminar-style sessions.
