Master´s in Innovation in Restaurant Management. 2012-2013
Basque Culinary Center offers this degree course from the University of Mondragon, designed to cover a very specific training need: To develop the skills required to manage the different areas of a restaurant (kitchen, service and business management), as well as to develop a global and innovative view of its concept and management.
The success and sustainability of a catering company depends to a great extent on the rigorous design of the project, and acquiring the necessary skills to run it becomes a necessity.
The course is fundamentally aimed at catering professionals motivated to lead the creation of new gastronomic projects or new business models within the existing ones.
An intense program of 670 hours, which includes a Master’s final project, throughout which you will study in depth the different innovation strategies that affect all areas of a catering company.
A study plans that is taught over 24 sessions, from October to June. Classes are on Mondays and Tuesdays, so it to be compatible with a work activity.
Guests reference, experts in each of the areas and teachers of Basque Culinary Center, will be responsible for ensuring the success of your learning and the project that will develop over the Master.

Admissions / Requirements
The Master’s is fundamentally aimed at managers and owners of catering companies and professionals with training and experience in catering, with an interest in having their own project or for leading the management of gastronomic companies (restaurants, bistros, pintxo bars, tapas, catering…)
Similarly, it is also aimed at entrepreneurs with experience in other sectors who wish to embark on a gastronomic project in the short term.
The Basque Culinary Center has an admissions system with the objective of ensuring that our students have the academic level and personal skills required to successfully pass an innovative and demanding study plan.
An Admission Committee, composed of professionals from the gastronomic sector, members of the Basque Culinary Board and professionals of accredited experience in the different areas of the restaurant, will be responsible for selecting the candidates to be admitted.

Students interested must fill out and send via email or post the following:
- The application form.
- Your Curriculum Vitae.
- Accrediting documentation of your training and/or experience.
- Photocopy of ID Card or passport.
- Letter stating the reasons why you wish to study the Master’s and a brief description of the project (real or fictitious).
- Application fee (it will be returned in full if you are not accepted). The fee is 150 Euros.
It is recommended to attach a presentation of the gastronomic project.
The selection process will have the following phases:
- Evaluation of the training and experience.
For catering professionals the following will be an advantage:
- Training in the cooking and catering area.
- Professional experience in cooking and catering
For entrepreneurs with no catering experience the following will be an advantage:
- Professional experience
- Documentation that supports the candidate’s firm interest in creating a new gastronomic project.
It is recommendable to have basic computer knowledge and internet access, as online learning platforms will be used.
Personal interviews will be held with all candidates who get through phase 1. In this phase we will assess the motivation and commitment to studying the Master’s, as well as personal aptitudes that will allow you to successfully pass this training process. In order to make the most of the Master’s, it is important for the student to have a working restaurant or plans to have one in the medium term.
The interview will be held in person or via videoconference.
Submission of applications:
The period for the submission of applications is open until all places are filled.
A first selection will be made of applicants who submit applications until 1st May 2012. These applications will be answered before 1st June 2012.
Applications presented after the first selection will be answered within 1 month of their presentation (as long as there are places available).
In the case of foreign students, once they have paid the registration confirmation fee, those accepted will receive their letter of admission and all the necessary help to process their visa.
