MSc in Mathematics and Physics
Mathematics and Physics form the basis for all technical and scientific research. These two subjects are an indispensable prerequisite for technological developments in modern society. The Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences offers a Master's programme primarily focusing on mathematical and physical modelling.
The main learning outcome of the programme is advanced knowledge about modelling of mathematical and physical systems. Furthermore, the student should be able to demonstrate the ability to synthesize appropriate mathematical concepts and methods in order to analyse and solve relevant problems.
Having completed the programme, the student should:
- know about and be able to use advanced mathematical methods and theories related to different mathematical and physical problems
- have gained insight into specialized areas of physics through mathematical formulation, analysis and modelling
- be able to apply tools from mathematical modelling to adjacent areas and to technological problems
- be able to carry out, present and document a comprehensive independent piece of work where the terminology and concepts of the subject area are used.
