FACING THE CHALLENGES OF GLOBALISATION
The MSc in International Business programme looks at the challenges of globalisation and at ways to handle them. The focus of the programme courses is the internationalisation of organisations and their international activities. Globalisation is a major driving force in practically all value-chain activities, and the programme aims to equip candidates with managerial and organisational competencies to handle this.
The first semester features three courses: Management Research Methods; Emerging Markets – Institutions and Challenges; and The Emergence of Global Enterprises.
The second semester comprises the following specialising courses. Organising and Managing the Multinational Corporation focuses on the organisational and managerial challenges faced by the modern multinational corporation. Global Sourcing and International Buyer–Supplier Relationships addresses how to develop and manage the global sourcing function of an organisation, including managing buyer-supplier relationships. Intercultural Competence looks at the importance of cultural differences in a company’s international operations and related managerial problems. Human Resource Management and Development provides fundamental theoretical and practical insights into and understanding of the human resource management field.
In the third semester, students can choose courses in their areas of interest. These can be taken at Aarhus University, at a partner university outside Denmark, or at the AU Summer University. Students can also participate in internship programmes in Denmark or abroad.
The fourth semester is devoted to the final thesis, where students have the opportunity to concentrate on and specialise in a specific field of interest.
A MSc degree in International Business equips graduates with the competencies required to take part in decision-making processes in various types of international businesses and institutions either in Denmark or abroad, regardless of whether these are at an early or a more advanced stage of internationalisation.
