This programme MSc in Advanced Computer Networking is concerned with the design, implementation and administration of high performance computer network infrastructures and includes an examination of the methods, techniques, tools and technologies used to develop such infrastructures.
The programme includes all the material required for the Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) qualification. Cisco is the largest supplier of network products in the world and CCNP certification is the pre-eminent network professional qualification.
University students who are unable to successfully complete all aspects of the Postgraduate Diploma may be eligible for a Postgraduate Certificate. The MSc programme follows on from the PgD and requires the student to research and prepare an individual dissertation of a substantial nature. The programme commences in September, each year, with a summer school.

Semester A: Advanced Routing, Simulation of Computer Networks, Switching, Research and Project Methods, Ethics and Technology
Semester B: Research and Project Methods, Telephony, Technology and Environmental Management, Secure Converged WAN, Optimising Converged Networks and QOS
All modules include examinations and coursework. Practical computing forms a significant part of assessment. This is accomplished through coursework and practical tests.
Successful completion of the Postgraduate programme will leave students ideally placed to achieve CCNP certification.

Entry Requirements (Essential)
An Honours Degree or advanced qualification in Computer Science or cognate discipline from a British University or recognised overseas institution or industrial experience in Computer Networking and an Honours Degree.
