MSc Petroleum Engineering
The Department of Petroleum Engineering at the University of Stavanger is at the forefront of petroleum engineering education worldwide. The MSc in Petroleum Engineering is uniquely focused on the specific needs of the upstream petroleum industry. From the next academic year 2013/2014 the programme will offer 2 specialisations: Well Engineering and Reservoir Engineering. The planned third specialisation in Natural Gas Engineering has been postponed.
The MSc in Petroleum Engineering has an international profile and accommodates both Norwegian and international students. University degrees in Petroleum Engineering have been offered by our institution since 1977. The MSc program prepares students for careers in the international oil and gas industry. Students can avail themselves of the faculty’s close contacts with the industry and focus on the challenges currently being faced by practising petroleum engineers. Additionally, the program provides an excellent basis for doctoral studies (PhD) for those who wish to pursue a career in education or research.
