The Human Genome Project has been one of the most significant scientific milestones in the last century. Nowadays, the emphasis has been placed on extracting new forms of knowledge from this data, in order to better understand the molecular and cellular events, improving the processes of medical diagnosis and therapy, as well as the techniques used at the Biotechnology level.
Bioinformatics, understood as the application of information technologies to solve problems in the context of the life sciences, is emerging as a key discipline in this task, which has experienced a remarkable growth in recent years, both at an academic, industrial and service level. This course aims to provide 2nd cycle quality training in this area for 1st cycle students in the areas of Information Technology and and Biological Science and Engineering.
