The program will provide to students a solid grounding in modern finance and economics with a particular emphasis on techniques and models and their application to real world problems.

As well as providing you with firm academic foundations, this course also aims to develop the individual. You will learn vital skills expected of graduates alongside ‘soft’ skills of team working, creative thinking and high impact communication. You’ll also benefit from our exclusive calendar of guests and events. Recent speakers have included senior executives from Newsmith Capital, Burger King, UBS and Cable and Wireless.

Program Structure

This 12-month program consists of six compulsory modules and two optional modules followed by a dissertation over the summer period on completion of Semester 2.

Entry Requirements

A first degree from an approved university or a UK 2:1 or International equivalent for students with Bachelor’s degrees in Finance, Accounting and Economics. Exceptional candidates with first class degrees in other subjects (with a significant component of finance) will be considered. Students who lack the usual academic qualifications but have appropriate professional qualifications (with good grades) will be considered individually on merit. Grades in modules relevant to Finance must average 2:1 (particular emphasis will be placed on final-year finance modules). All applicants must have reached a minimum required standard of English language and are required to provide evidence of this.

Career Prospects

The MSc is designed to support career entry and development in the financial sectors in the world financial markets, government agencies, international financial agencies and higher education, amongst others. Some of our recent graduates now work in HSBC, JP Morgan, Accenture, Deloittes, PwC, OpHedge Investment Services, Deloitte, Gamma Telecom Ltd and China Bohai Bank.

Tuition fees (Home/EU)

The University's tuition fees are normally fixed at yearly intervals and follow Government guidelines on minimum levels. As a guide only, the normal tuition fees for full-time Home/EU postgraduate students will be as follows:

International students

International students are required to pay the full costs of their tuition in the UK with each university setting its own international fees. The University of Liverpool's fees represent excellent value for money for a Russell Group University. Fees for postgraduate research programmes are different than for masters programmes and a full list of fees are available on our International money and scholarships pages.
