The 'Environmental and Energy Management' Master’s degree programme aims to prepare future private, public and NGO decision-makers to analyse issues and act in an environmentally pro-active way.
The degree course is intended for postgraduates with a clear affinity for management and/or technology as a result of their educational background or of their working experience, as well as for private, public and NGO decision-makers who wish to become environmental and energy specialists.
During the first part of the programme (lecture-period) all students attend the theoretical part of the program. The main themes are:
-- Principles of governance, environmental and energy policy, environmental and energy planning, environmental and energy regulation, environmental impact assessment
-- Principles of environmental and energy management, corporate strategies, accounting, reviews, management systems, auditing and certification, integration with health, safety and quality management, resource-management, integral chain management, communication, management and advising skills
-- Principles of cleaner production, production technology, clean-up technology, clean technology, environmental technology, energy saving technology.
Besides the lectures there will be training classes and workshops on for example communication, stress management and water technology.

The Master programme 'Environmental and Energy Management' aims to prepare future decision-makers in companies, government and non-governmental organisations for analysing and acting in an environmentally pro-active way when making decisions about policy, production and resource utilisation.
The programme is intended for postgraduates with a clear affinity for management and/or technology, either as a result of their education or of their working experience, as well as for decision-makers in companies, government and non-governmental organisations who wish to become environmental and energy specialists.
Upon completion of the ‘Environmental and Energy Management’ Master’s degree programme, graduates will be able to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate environmental and energy management programmes. They can work for major private sector companies or become an advisor in consultancy or engineering firms with clients ranging from large, small and medium-sized enterprises to government. As regards the public sector, graduates will be ready to work for national governments, provincial authorities, (larger) municipal councils and water management authorities.
In order to qualify for participation in the Master programme Environmental and Energy Management, applicants should satisfy the following conditions:
- have at least a Bachelor's degree (if applicable, 2nd class or higher)
- have a basic understanding of chemistry (high school level)
- have excellent communication skills and a very good understanding of the English language
- demonstrate sufficient proficiency in English by means of a minimum score of 6.5 on the Academic IELTS test.
