MSc Corporate Social Responsibility

Nottingham University Business School

The MSc in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a pioneering CSR masters course. This innovative course emphasises the international influence and impact of corporations and their responsibilities in society. Since the programme began in 2004, we have welcomed students from 44 different nationalities.

The MSc in CSR is a specialist programme offered by the Business School’sInternational Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility (ICCSR), one of Europe’s foremost centres for education and research in business ethics, responsibility, and sustainability.

The course provides you with an analytical perspective on corporate social responsibility (CSR) enabling you to critically assess CSR issues, initiatives, drivers, and response through research and practice. Your knowledge is supported by theory and the benefits of the latest research in the field.

The course takes an international, multi-sector and multi-disciplinary perspective. You will benefit from learning with students from all over the world, who bring a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.

The course is designed for graduates with a first degree in management, business or other social sciences. It will also suit you if you are more experienced and are looking for a postgraduate qualification in sustainability to help further your career.

Our graduates have developed CSR careers in the corporate sector, with business associations, in investor organisations, consultancies, research organisations, academia, government and in the third sector. The MSc in CSR is also suitable if you are interested in continuing on to a PhD in CSR or sustainability.

Over 12 months, you will complete eight taught modules including five modules run by the ICCSR, two modules on research methods and an additional elective module.

As well as your studies, you will benefit from a range of public and extracurricular activities that the ICCSR hosts, including public lectures, research seminars, a film series, regular social gatherings and an annual research symposium or conference. The ICCSR is well connected with CSR practice and you will have opportunities to meet practitioners and join the network of alumni.

There is a maximum of 20 places on this course to encourage students to benefit from close interaction with their peers and with academic staff.
