Energy costs have become a critical issue since the worldwide consumption is increasing and production of greenhouse gases is limited. This drives to the situation where people who are educated to deal with minimizing energy usage to be in demand. These people have an appropriate knowledge to optimize the conversion and production of energy. The new joint programme of Materials and Processes of Sustainable Energetics offers a new and unique approach to energy issues. Programme does not teach how to produce more energy but how to use energy more efficiently.

 

Materials science and technology is traditionally strongly based on chemical science and education. In line with the development of new high tech materials, technologies and processes, their properties are studied at the Faculty. As a result of successful research in the field of new electronic materials, European and Estonian Centre of Excellence was established at the Faculty for the study of materials for solar energy. Extensive cooperation with Tartu University, European universities and industry are conducted as well, which gives students excellent possibilities for practicing and working abroad....
