Pediatric Dentistry

The pediatric medicine rotation encompasses hospital and community-based practices. The program includes a research project and successful completion of the three-year program will result in a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in Pediatric Dentistry as well as a Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) in Pediatric Dentistry.

Our postdoctoral program in pediatric dentistry prepares dentists to provide comprehensive preventive and therapeutic oral health care to infants, children, and adolescents, including patients with special health care needs.

We offer a strong core curriculum in biomedical sciences, with rotations in anesthesia, emergency room, and pediatric medicine. You will receive an excellent balance of clinical experience, didactic course work, and research. We provide training in hospital-based dental practices and the management of special needs children receiving dental rehabilitation under general anesthesia. Graduates are qualified to pursue careers in private practice, teaching, and research....

Postdoctoral Prosthodontics

In the three years of the program, you will take preclinical laboratory courses and provide patient care in the postdoctoral clinic as well as completeing a research project, thesis, and thesis defense which leads to a Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) in Prosthodontics.

We offer our students in-depth clinical and didactic instruction in fixed, removable, and implant Prosthodontics, with exposure to maxillofacial prosthetics. Students learn to treat unusual and difficult prosthodontic problems by expanding their knowledge and skills in the biomedical and clinical disciplines.

Orthodontics

The program includes a research project and successful completion of a three-year program will result in a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics as well as a Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.

The advanced training program in orthodontics will teach you to treat the full range of orthodontic problems in adults and children. Our curriculum emphasizes craniofacial growth and development, cephalometrics, biomechanics, occlusion, and neuron-muscular physiology.

Students obtain a Master's Degree (MSD) in Endodontics as part of their postdoctoral program. Students are involved research related to the pathophysiology of endodontic disease or materials used in endodontic therapy.

-- Our well-rounded postdoctoral program in endodontics offers residents a combination of clinical training and didactic knowledge in the specialty of endodontics. Throughout the residency, students are exposed to a variety of nonsurgical and surgical endodontic cases that offer the opportunity to develop proficiency in diagnosis and clinical treatment.

-- Lectures, case presentations, and current and topical literature seminars provide the opportunity for students to learn and discuss the rationale and evidence for the pathophysiology of endodontic disease and the subsequent endodontic treatment needed....

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Training Program (to be offered in 2011)

The program includes a research project and successful completion of the five-year program will result in a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as well as a Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

-- The OMFS residency program trains dentists in all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including trauma, pathology, esthetic surgery, orthognathics, Implantology, reconstruction, cleft lip and palate, anesthesia, and dentoalveolar surgery.
