Master's Program In Biomedical Sciences
Presentation

The advance in medical knowledge in the twentieth century, was achieved through the development of new technologies that thousands of researchers from different areas of knowledge and made to multiply the chances of meeting the functioning of living organisms at the molecular and cellular, and its application in diagnosis and in some cases, the treatment of diseases that were unthinkable a few years make.

Despite these advances, Latin America accounts for only 1% of scientists in the world, and of these only 1% are Colombians, the Caribbean being one of the regions with the highest deficit of researchers with master's degrees and doctorates. The Universidad del Norte, through the Division of Health Sciences, now offers the scientific community of the Coast and Colombia, the first MS program in biomedical sciences in the region, achieved through the development and consolidation of five research groups recognized by Colciencias, led by teacher-researchers with doctoral training as a concrete response to l challenge of improving the research and training of health professional, to contribute to solving the priority problems of health in the Colombian Caribbean region and country. ...

MSc Biomedical Engineering
MSc Biomedical Engineering
Biomedical engineering involves the application of technology in health care and medicine. Health care is developing rapidly, people remain healthy longer, and illnesses can be cured more frequently. Technology plays a key role in prevention, diagnosis, therapy, rehabilitation and care. This encompasses a wide range of activities, including tissue engineering to increase the "friendliness" of implants in the body, 3-D imaging of organs and development of rehabilitation aids and advanced home care systems. The field of biomedical engineering needs individuals who can think and work at an academic level to solve the problems faced by those who provide or require health care. An essential aspect of this involves taking into account the role and experience of patients, doctors and paramedics....

Master's Program - Biomedical Engineering
Master's Program - Biomedical Engineering
The Biomedical Engineering master’s programme should enable graduates to be active at the interface between technology, medicine and biology, and to understand the language and content of both disciplines. The course promotes interdisciplinary technological expertise.
The four-semester master’s programme goes into the knowledge acquired in the Biomedical Engineering bachelor’s programme (six semesters) in more depth and offers opportunities to specialise in the fields of Health Care Engineering, Bioimaging & Bioinstrumentation, Bionformatics & Medical Informatics and Molecular Bioengineering (see course information folder). Graduates will be awarded the academic degree of “Diplom-Ingenieurin” or “Diplom-Ingenieur”, which is internationally equivalent to a “Master of Science” (“MSc”)....

Master's Program - Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering
Master's Program - Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering
“Intelligent“ pharmaceutical drugs can be tailored to the age, sex and lifestyle of the individual. These medical products of the future can be oriented to the characteristics and needs of people and thus have the potential to revolutionise medical care in a fundamental way. Shorter development times and a far more economical production have made pharmaceutical engineering into an economically relevant factor. The four-semester master’s programme Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering links the scientific disciplines of Chemistry and Pharmacy with the engineering discipline of Chemical and Process Engineering and thus represents a master’s programme unique in the German-speaking area....
